The PSL Eliminator is going to be played between the Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi. In some ways, it is a match between the old-guard of the PSL and the teams looking to make a change. It is great for the tournament that teams are competing closer than ever before with each other.
The Lahore Qalandars are perhaps the one team everyone wants to avoid because of their dangerous bowling attack. The Quetta Gladiators, however, not be taken lightly either. The PSL group stage was months ago and any momentum the teams would have built is long gone.
In addition, there are a number of changes that we have to take into account as well.
Lahore Qalandars vs Peshawar Zalmi PSL 2020 is going to be played at the National Stadium, Karachi on the 14th of November 2020.
No one gave the Lahore Qalandars a chance in the PSL before the tournament began and even the few supporters seemed to have deserted them as they lost four out of their first five matches. Since then, though, a remarkable turnaround led by Ben Dunk, Chris Lynn, Haris Rauf, and Shaheen Afridi has put the Lahore Qalandars in a perfect position to reach the PSL final for the first time.
Could we wrap up 2020 with Lahore Qalandars as the team to win the PSL? It would be fitting!
There is no doubt that the Lahore Qalandars have an excellent bowling attack. Haris Rauf and Shaheen Afridi are the first-choice fast bowlers for Pakistan right now.
They have Usman Shinwari and Mohammad Hafeez in there as well to give the bowling some good depth.
The batting is going to be led by Ben Dunk, who has managed to make it over the playoffs. The absence of Chris Lynn is a big loss but Tamim Iqbal could make an impact as his replacement as well.
Fakhar Zaman has not scored too many runs in international cricket and Sohail Akhtar has been deprived of quality match practise which puts a big question mark on the batting. The pressure on Mohammad Hafeez to lead from the front is going to be immense.
Ben Dunk, Tamim Iqbal, Fakhar Zaman, Sohail Akhtar, Muhammad Faizan, Mohammad Hafeez, D Wiese, SR Patel, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, Dilbar Hussain.
There are a lot of issues that Peshawar Zalmi has to deal with when it comes to the team balance. Some major players are going to be missing for Peshawar like Kieron Pollard, Darren Sammy, Tom Banton, and Hasan Ali.
They have, however, managed to get one of the biggest profile players to sign on for them in the PSL Playoffs.
Faf du Plessis is going to join the team and hopefully continue from the brilliant form that he was in with Chennai Super Kings in the IPL.
There are some massive local players playing for Zalmi as well. Wahab Riaz, Haider Ali, Shoaib Malik, and Kamran Akmal. In fact, when it comes to the PSL, there is no one bigger than Kamran Akmal. He has been one of the biggest batsmen in the history of the PSL and loves performing in the playoffs.
Haider Ali has risen in the ranks of Pakistani batsmen and the one we are most keen on seeing.
With powerful batsmen like Liam Livingstone and Carlos Brathwait in the side as well, Peshawar Zalmi has a better batting lineup than the Qalandars for sure.
Wahab Riaz and Rahat ALi should find a place in the bowling lineup with support from Hardus Viljoen and perhaps Carlos Brathwaitre. Sohaib Maqsood is a valuable local addition that is going to add depth to the Zalmi side as well.
Imam-ul-Haq, Haider Ali, Faf du Plessis, Shoaib Malik, Sohaib Maqsood, Hardus Viljoen, Wahab Riaz, Carlos Brathwaite, Mohammad Imran, Saqib Mahmood, Rahat Ali.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to field first so that it can take advantage of any dew that comes in. The surface tends to become a bit faster and better for batting as the dew descends.

The conditions in Lahore are going to be good for cricket and the weather is not expected to be an issue. The pitch is expected to be very good for batting and dew could play a factor in the outcome as well. Hopefully the difference between the two innings is not going to be too drastic otherwise the toss could end up deciding the game.
We think a score of around 180 batting first is just going to end up being par.
We are going to back Peshawar Zalmi to win this match. The momentum of the group stages holds for nothing and this is why we have to look at the teams with a fresh perspective. Peshawar Zalmi seems to have a better batting lineup and should be able to cope up with the bowlers from the Qalandars lineup.
Bet on Peshawar Zalmi to win.
