The Quetta Gladiators got off to a rough start in the Pakistan Super League as they were demolished by the defending champions, Karachi Kings. Now, they have another tough examination against quite possibly the best bowling team of the entire PSL.
The Lahore Qalandars would have played one match by the time this one gets played but we do not know the outcome of that at the time of this writing. There are so many players to look forward to on both sides that the contests are going to be exciting.
The PSL may have started with a one-sided match but we have found that to be the exception rather than the norm in seasons past.
Lahore Qalandars vs Quetta Gladiators PSL 2021 is going to be played at the National Stadium, Karachi on the 22nd of February 2021.
The Lahore Qalandars come into the PSL with a lot of hopes. They were the finalists in 2020 but could not get the job done on the night. They have never won the title and would be looking to change that for sure.
The bowling lineup that the Lahore Qalandars can potentially put together is one of the strongest we have ever seen assembled. It helps that Pakistan has such deep and rich bowling resources of course but even the overseas players are T20 legends.
Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, Dilbar Hussain, and Rashid Khan are likely to be the four frontline bowlers while there are three-four other bowling options to fill in for the fifth bowler as well.
Samit Patel, Mohammad Hafeez, or even Joe Denly could chip in with a few overs.
The batting lineup is going to be led by a couple of batsmen that are looking to redeem themselves. Fakhar Zaman has been out of form for the longest time while Mohammad Hafeez will be keen to show that he must be one of the first names for the T20 World Cup 2021.
Sohail Akhtar, Ben Dunk, and possibly David Wiese could also get a game.
The Lahore Qalandars have a very strong team for sure and just the batting needs to click for them to be a real force in PSL 2021.
Ben Dunk, Fakhar Zaman, Sohail Akhtar, Mohammad Hafeez, D Wiese, SR Patel, Agha Salman, Rashid Khan, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, Ahmed Daniel.
The Quetta Gladiators suffered a complete batting collapse in the opening match of PSL 2021. APart from Chris Gayle, who just continues to be effective, none of the other batsmen made a mark.
Tom Banton and Sarfaraz Ahmed failed at the top of the order while Ben Cutting was unable to get going and provide the big hits during the end. We find it interesting that Sarfaraz Ahmed thinks he is the best opening option alongside Tom Banton the likes of Cameron Delport in there as well.
Faf du Plessis should be available for selection as well and it is going to be a huge surprise if he does not get a game. The Quetta Gladiators played with just three overseas batsmen in the opening match and we think they need to strengthen their batting. The stage for du Plessis is set.
Qais Ahmed was very poor in the opening match and went for runs every time he seemed to bowl. He could make way and leave an overseas slot empty. Mohammad Hasnain continues to show why the future of fast bowling is so bright in Pakistan. He bowled with pace and troubled every batsman that faced him.
Naseem Shah and Usman Shinwari need to be a bit better, but they also did not have anything close to enough runs to defend in this match.
We expect the Quetta Gladiators to be better and not to be written off just yet.
Sarfraz Ahmed, Azam Khan, Chris Gayle, Tom Banton, Saim Ayub, Ben Cutting, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Hasnain, Anwar Ali, Usman Khan Shinwari, Zahid Mahmood.
The team that wins the toss is likely to want to bowl first. Chasing is a huge advantage in Karachi with almost 80% of the matches being won by the chasing side. Make sure you take that into account when you place your PSL bets.

The pitch was a bit on the slower side and the bounce was also a touch low. That is nothing unexpected, though, and we don’t think that is going to change for future matches either. If anything, the pitch may become slower still.
The dew comes down in the second inning and makes batting easier. Teams bowling second will have to be on top of their games to be able to make an impact.

We don’t think the Quetta Gladiators should be counted out just yet. They have a decent batting lineup that could get stronger. The balance of the team was a bit off and we think some selection mistakes were made. On the whole, though, the Quetta Gladiators could spring a surprise in this match.
Bet on the Quetta Gladiators to win.
Our Favorite Bets
Tom Banton Total Score - Over 20.5 ($1.83) (Betway)
We think Tom Banton is one of the most talented T20 batsmen in the world right now. He may have got out cheaply but he showed some glimpses of form. He has the ability to adjust to the conditions in Pakistan and really make the opposition pay when he gets in. We think this bet is well worth the risk considering the quality of his batsmanship.
Total Sixes in the Match - Under 11.5 ($1.85) (Betway)
We have seen the matches been surprisingly tilted towards the bowling sides so far. It has not been easy to get big hits away and we are yet to see any big scores. We think this is the right time to get on the trend and make some money. Quality bowlers on both sides and some questionable batting form could end up making it a nice payday for you!
