Kia Women's Super League is down to its final phase with each team left to play their last league game of the tournament. With Vikings' win over Southern Vipers, the top four slots are already sealed, and apart from a probable shuffle among the current top four sides, we are unlikely to see any significant changes in the top four. Up in the tournament ahead are Lancashire Women set to take on Surrey Stars in a dead-rubber contest. The match between the two sides is to be played on Wednesday, 28th August at the Stanley Park in Blackpool. Both the teams are no longer in contention to qualify for the playoffs, and the result of this upcoming match is not going to make any impact whatsoever on the standings.
Lancashire Thunder have had a remarkably poor tournament thus far and will finish at the bottom of the table regardless of the result in their upcoming fixture. They've played nine games in the tournament so far, and the best result they've had so far is a tie, which was against Southern Vipers. They have only to points in their kitty with the net run rate of -1.031.
Lancashire Thunder have struggled with inconsistent performances from their top players. Barring Harmanpreet Kaur, who has been a standout performer for them, none of their batsmen has been able to get going in the competition. In the bowling department, they have pretty big names in Kate Cross and Sofie Ecclestone, but they too have failed to perform to their potential.
All in all, they have a pretty good team on paper but are a little short on performance as far as their batting is concerned. With Harmanpreet Kaur in fine form, they only need their other batsmen to play a second-fiddle to her, and if they can do that to perfection, Lancashire may well end up registering their first win of the tournament.
Tahlia McGrath, Sune Luus, Sophia Dunkley Brown, Harmanpreet Kaur, Georgie Boyce, Eve Jones, Eleanor Threlkeld, Emma Lamb, Sophie Ecclestone, Kate Cross, Alex Hartley.
Just like Lancashire Thunder, Stars are also knocked out of the tournament, and the result of the upcoming match will be inconsequential for them. They have registered a couple of more wins than Lancashire Thunder have, but have an inferior net run rate of -1.132.
On paper, they have a better side as compared to Lancashire Lightning with international stars in Dane van Niekerk, Sarah Taylor, Lizelle Lee, and Natalie Sciver available at their disposal. However, they too have struggled with the inconsistent performances, resulting in their early exit from the tournament.
Overall, Surrey Stars have done reasonably well, but a couple of poor performances towards the end of their campaign cost them a playoff spot. They have an extremely well-balanced lineup, at least on paper, and will not be an easy side to beat in the upcoming contest.
Lizelle Lee, Sarah Taylor, Natalie Sciver, Bryony Smith, Marizanne Kapp, Rhianna Southby, Aylish Cranstone, Eva Gray, Hannah Jones, Gwenan Davies, Grace Gibbs.

Even though the upcoming contest has little consequence as far as the final standings of the two sides are concerned, both the sides will still be desperate to register a win and end their campaign on a high. Lancashire Lightning are placed at the bottom of the table and will stay at the bottom of the table regardless of the result. They are a little too over-reliant on Harmanpreet Kaur to deal the damage with the bat. On the other hand, the Stars are well equipped with talent and experience throughout their lineup, which is backed by a pretty good bowling attack. For those reasons, we think that Stars are better placed to emerge on top in the upcoming fixture.
