We are almost at the final stage of the league round in Kia Women's Super League, and the competition is still far from over. While Western Storm and Southern Vipers have confirmed their berth in the playoffs, the battle is still going on between the next three teams at the ladder with Lancashire Thunder being the only team to be knocked out of the tournament thus far. With nothing much left in the competition, apart from for the two teams in question, all those sides will be looking to register a win and ensure their place. Lancashire Thunder are set to play Yorkshire Diamonds on 18th August which should clear things out, at least up to some extent.
Precisely opposite to Western Storm's campaign, the Thunder have failed to register even one win in the tournament and are languishing at the bottom of the points table. This is their last match, and they'll be looking to redeem some pride by beating the best side of the tournament.
Harmanpreet Kaur has been their lone warrior so far, raking up more than 160 runs, but lack of support from the rest of the lineup has hurt them. They had a good chance against the Vipers as they reduced second-placed Vipers to 24 for 4, but complacency crept in thereafter as Thunder lost the super-over after Vipers managed to tie the match.
Tahlia McGrath, Sune Luus, Sophia Dunkley Brown, Harmanpreet Kaur, Georgie Boyce, Emma Lamb, Eleanor Threlkeld, Sophie Ecclestone, Kate Cross, Alice Dyson, Alex Hartley.
West Storm currently occupy the top of the table spot in the Women's Super League, and their qualification is nothing but certain. This is their last match of the league stage wherein they'll like to register a win as well.
Up until now in the tournament, Western Storm have undoubtedly been the best performing team, winning all of their five matches. With five wins amounting to 22 points. In their last battle against Lancashire Thunder, they emerged on top with six wickets to spare and with five wins behind them and a win against Thunder just a couple of weeks ago to back it up, beating West Storm will not be an easy task to do.
Heather Knight, Anya Shrubsole, Naomi Dattani, Freya Davies, Alex Griffiths, Sophie Luff, Smriti Mandhana, Sonia Odedra, Rachel Priest, Deepti Sharma, Fran Wilson.
Check out the Dream11 lineup for the Kia Women's Super League match, which is to be played between Lancashire Thunder and Western Storm
The two teams in question on Sunday have had a contrasting season so far. While on the team have maintained its supremacy right throughout the competition, the other side has done almost nothing of substance. Western Storm have four of the best performing batsmen in the tournament and will not be an easy side to bowl to. With strong momentum behind them and an overall superior team, Western Storm are better placed to emerge on top on Sunday.
