MI vs KXIP Match Prediction - Apr 10, 2019

Kings XI Punjab has moved to third on the league table after a hard-fought victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad. They will now travel to Mumbai to play against the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede. The Mumbai Indians have also hit their stride in IPL 2019. They have managed to defend two small totals in their last two matches and will be full of confidence.

Making your home ground difficult for all visiting teams is crucial in the IPL and we are sure that the Mumbai Indians will want to do just that. The conditions in the Wankhede are usually pretty good for batting and the Kings XI side has shown the ability to adjust to different venues. Their batting lineup could really enjoy playing in Mumbai as well.

MI vs KXIP Team Previews

Mumbai Indians

The Mumbai Indians are in a good position on the IPL league table without playing their best cricket till now. We don’t think the Mumbai batting has come close to performing at the level which it is capable of. Rohit Sharma has struggled for runs, Quinton de Kock has not been able to convert his good starts into any big scores, and the middle order looks quite unsettled.

Both these openers are simply too good to continue failing on an excellent batting pitch like the one that Mumbai offers them. We expect one or maybe even both of them to score heavily in the upcoming match.

Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya have been in excellent form in IPL 2019. They have struck the boundaries in the late overs and helped Mumbai to get to competitive totals even when the rest of the batting has failed.

Players like Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav need to start performing at their best soon. The pitch at the Wankhede is excellent for batting and we don’t think the Mumbai bowling will be able to bail them out in every match.

The bowling for the Mumbai Indians has been excellent. Jason Behrendorff, Alzarri Joseph, Jasprit Bumrah, Krunal Pandya, Hardik Pandya, and Rahul Chahar make for a very deep and varied bowling attack.

Alzarri Joseph picked up six wickets on his Mumbai Indians debut in the previous match and all the attention will be on him going into the next match. Rohit Sharma may be tempted to play Mayank Markande in the upcoming match. He has a good googly and that can be useful against batsmen like Gayle and Miller.

Mumbai Indians may be winning but they definitely need to increase their performance level to be able to win against Kings XI.

Kings XI Punjab

An excellent bowling performance by the Kings XI in their previous match led to them winning their fourth win out of six matches in IPL 2019. Ravi Ashwin has been very good about getting his match-ups right and making sure that he is always asking questions of the batsmen.

The Kings XI decided to play without Tye, Viljoen, and get Mujeeb into the side. We could see the same team playing in the next match as we think Ashwin would want to use Mujeeb up front against de Kock and Rohit Sharma.

The batting is going to be decisive at the Wankhede. Lokesh Rahul has hit excellent form and is consistently scoring runs. His side may want him to try and finish off matches a bit earlier than the last over though!

We think that Chris Gayle and David Miller are going to play a huge role in this upcoming match. They like the ball coming on to the bat and will not mind the extra bounce in the pitch. Both the batsmen also clear the boundaries with ease and that is again something that we get to see a lot of in Mumbai.

The middle order of the Kings XI side is a bit lacking in power. They have Mandeep Singh, Sam Curran, and Sarfaraz Khan in there to help accelerate the inning in the last few overs. None of these batsmen is known for clearing the boundaries and this is why it is essential for the top-order to get most of the runs.

Kings XI has been led very well by Ashwin and that is something that is going to matter in matches that go down to the last over.

MI vs KXIP Toss Prediction

Mumbai Indians have won their last two matches batting first and we think they may want to continue doing that. Kings XI Punjab, on the other hand, is likely to want to chase if they win the toss.

Pitch and Conditions

MI vs KXIP IPL 2019 is going to be played at the Wankhede, Mumbai. The weather forecast for Mumbai on match day is for clear skies and no chance of rain. The humidity is expected to be a bit towards the higher side and so we may have dew affect the match. Thankfully, the start time of this match will ensure that no one side gets a big advantage from dew affecting ground conditions.

The pitch is excellent for batting at this venue and we are sure that will be the case for this match as well. A high scoring match with plenty of big hits is expected.

MI vs KXIP Dream11 Prediction

The Dream 11 prediction for the Mumbai Indians vs Kings XI Punjab match is quite interesting. Both teams have some big name but underperforming players and backing them at the right time could make all the difference.

Wicketkeeper: Lokesh Rahul and Quinton de Kock are the two options for this slot. Bot batsmen are in decent form and open the batting. Quinton de Kock, though, is going to be thrown some spin at him right up front which could trip him up and this is why we are picking Lokesh Rahul for this match.

Batsmen: We have picked four batsmen for this match. Chris Gayle, Rohit Sharma, David Miller, and Kieron Pollard. We have a feeling that both the West Indians could leave a big imprint in this match. Rohit Sharma has had a quiet IPL so far but would anyone bet against him eventually getting a big score? David Miller has also been batting a bit too low for our liking but this is one ground where he can wreak havoc if gets in without enough overs to go.

All-Rounders: There are enough quality all-rounders in this match to fill up the maximum three slots available. Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, and Sam Curran are the players we have chosen. All three players are going to bowl their quota of overs and are capable of hitting the long ball when they get the chance.

Bowlers: Our three bowlers for this match are Jason Behrendorff, Mohammad Shami, and Rahul Chahar. Both the fast bowlers are excellent with the new ball while Rahul Chahar could be the key against the Kings XI big-hitters.

Captain and Vice Captain: We have decided to with the West Indian duo of Chris Gayle and Kieron Pollard as Captain and Vice Captain respectively.

MI vs KXIP Betting Tips

Mumbai Indians are a tough side to beat at home but they have not been playing at their best so far. A strong batting side like Delhi got past them at home and Kings XI definitely has a chance to do the same. On a player to player basis, Kings XI appears to have more batsmen in form and both teams have a strong bowling attack.

Back Kings XI Punjab to win.
