Just when we thought that there is no other twist possible, Indian Premier League 2020 took a fantastic turn as the top three teams on the points table all lost their respective matches. With KXIP and RR winning their respective matches, the tournament is now wide open with seven teams still in the hunt to qualify for the playoffs. Apart from the race to the playoffs, there's another battle taking place - the battle for the top two spots. RCB, MI, and DC are engaged in a three-way battle to cement their top place in one of the top two slots and a win in their respective next matches would be of massive help.
Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians are set to meet each other in this all-important encounter, the result of which will likely govern the occupants of the top-two slots. The match is to be played at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi, on 28th October 2020.
Not many would have expected Mumbai Indians to be annihilated by Rajasthan Royals. Up in the tournament until then, Mumbai Indians were cruising through and a top-two finish looked to be a mere formality. Not anymore, though. Their loss against Rajasthan Royals exposed a few vulnerabilities that the other sides could use to their advantage. Having said that, Mumbai Indians will also want to bring out their A-Game as we approach the business end of the tournament.
After a scintillating win over Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai's bowling attack that looked sharp and deadly suddenly turned into a pedestrian as Ben Stokes and Sanju Samson scored at a rate that no team was able to score against Mumbai Indians yet. Mumbai Indians' spinners, who had done so well were hammered away for plenty and could be in for a difficult time against a power-packed batting lineup of Royal Challengers Bangalore. Having said that, we believe that it was more of a one-off affair, and the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, James Pattinson, and Trent Boult will bounce back strongly in the upcoming match. Besides, AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli have had fair bit of troubles against leg-spinners and Rahul Chahar could be in business on Wednesday.
Just like their bowling, Mumbai Indians' batting looked out of sorts as well. Had it not been for Hardik Pandya, who scored 60 off 21, they would have had to settle for a lot less. Barring Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav, none of Mumbai's other batsmen looked in control on a slowing wicket as the Royals' spinners strangled MI batsmen in the middle overs. This match is once again going to be played on a slow surface and handling spinners will be a key. The thing that works for Mumbai Indians that RCB doesn't really have too many spinners who can spin the ball a long way and the likes of Pollard and Hardik will be tough to contain while playing on a ground with short straight boundaries.
Mumbai's loss against Rajasthan was their first loss where they defeated without even a fight. MI was terrific in the tournament before that and would want to get back to the winning ways. The injury to Rohit Sharma has definitely sparked a few speculations and we are once again likely to see Sharma sitting out in the pavilion. Kieron Pollard is a pretty capable captain and will take charge of Mumbai Indians yet again. On paper, Mumbai Indians are a terrific team and one bad match doesn't really change that. They have some world-class professional players available at their disposal and getting past them will take a colossal effort.
Ishan Kishan, Quinton de Kock, SA Yadav, SS Tiwary, Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Krunal Pandya, James Pattinson, Rahul Chahar, Trent Boult, JJ Bumrah.
Just like Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore too have been a terrific team in the tournament so far, but are coming off a rather unanticipated loss. In fact, there isn't much of a difference between RCB and MI on the points table too as the two teams are separated only by net run-rate. As it stands, Royal Challengers Bangalore are placed on the third spot on the points table, thanks to their inferior net run-rate but a win here will push them to the top of the table, provided Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Delhi Capitals on Tuesday.
Bowling has always been the Challengers' Achilles' heel, but RCB's management did a tremendous job to get their bowling in order. Also, Virat Kolhi has so far juggled around his bowlers to perfection and used Washington Sundar well too. RCB's bowlers, in-turn have responded brilliantly. It's worth mentioning that RCB's last win came solely on the back of their bowlers as Chahal, Siraj, and Saini wreaked havoc on KKR's batting unit as RCB won the match with seven wickets and plenty of overs to spare.
While everything seems to be working well for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, they would be disappointed by the way their batsmen played against the Super Kings. Their bowlers, as well, failed to utilize the conditions to their advantage as the Super Kings won the match by eight wickets. Almost everyone has contributed well with the bat for RCB, but the onus to accelerate the innings has only been on Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. Given that, for RCB to score above-par totals, it would be imperative for at least one of AB de Villiers or Virat Kohli to be on the crease for the most part of the death overs.
The addition of Chris Morris immediately helped RCB in both the departments of the match. To add depth to their batting lineup, RCB brought in Moeen Ali in for Isuru Udana in the last match and were clearly left searching for options to pick wickets. Given the wicket-taker, Udana is, we might see him sneak back into the playing eleven in this upcoming match. Even though RCB have done pretty well, the frequent chops and changes haven't really helped the zero-in on a perfect combination. They have adopted the strategy of horses-for-courses and might backfire if they fail to correctly assume the nature of the surface.
Overall, Royal Challengers Bangalore have done well in the tournament so far, but most of their wins have come on the back of Kohli-ABDV or their bowling. While Devdutt Padikkal has done well, he hasn't really played an imposing knock yet. Also, Aaron Finch's form at the top of the order will certainly be a cause of concern for the Challengers' management. As has been the case in the tournament, they'd need AB de Villiers or Virat Kohli to score big and if they do, there are not many bowlers in the world who can stop that carnage.
Devdutt Padikal, Josh Philippe, V Kohli, AB de Villiers, GR Singh Mann, Shivam Dube, Chris Morris, Washington Sundar, DW Steyn, Mohammed Siraj, YS Chahal.
The teams have now started to get hold of the slowness of the surfaces and totals have improved drastically in the recent matches. In addition to that, the team batting second will also have the assistance of dew. Setting a safe total will be a difficult task on this surface and, therefore, the captain winning the toss should elect to field here.

The last match that was played on this surface had 190+ total chased down with considerable ease. That was primarily because of the dew and the fact that the batsmen got themselves in to take advantage of the dew. Coming in and striking the ball is still going to be pretty tough here, but once the batsmen is set, he can really tonk the bowlers. Having said that, one thing that works out in batsmen's favor is that the surface here hasn't slowed down like that of Sharjah. With dew likely to have a huge say and the two teams having potent batting lineups, the team batting first would want to put a total of at least 180 runs on the board.

Our Favorite Bets
Match - Total Runs - Over 316.5, 2.035 @ 1xBet
Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians have been the two best teams of the tournament on the account of scoring boundaries and losing fewer wickets. The two teams, so far, have the best strike-rate and boundaries per ball ratio. Scoring big totals comes naturally to both the teams and we expect this total of 317 to be scored pretty easily.
AB de Villiers - Total Runs - Over 25.5, 1.83 @ Betway
AB de Villiers has been in terrific touch in the tournament so far and to add to that, he really loves batting against Mumbai Indians. While playing for the Challengers, he has averaged over 56 and has scored at a strike-rate of 152.46. Hitting a personal score of over 28 should be easy-peasy for him.
Moeen Ali - Total Wickets - Over 0.5, 1.83 @ Betway
Mumbai Indians have done pretty well and we do not expect them to make any changes to their playing eleven. In the playing eleven that they have, MI have four left-handers and none of them has found scoring against left-arm spinners easy. Moeen Ali is an experienced bowler and could take an advantage of this vulnerability of Mumbai Indians. Betting on him to pick up at least one wicket seems to be a pretty good punt.
Washington Sundar - Total Wickets - Over 0.5, 1.83 @ Betway
Just like the previous bet, this punt targets the Mumbai Indians' batting line-up that contains four left-handers. Washington Sundar has done incredibly well for RCB thus far and has more often than not bowled his full quota of four overs. Given his accuracy, he has a high probability of dismissing at least one of the MI batsmen.

The last time these two teams met in the tournament, the match ended in a super-over with RCB taking the two points. Navdeep Saini bowled a terrific over and gave away almost nothing in his over. Royal Challengers Bangalore will be hoping for a similar show by their bowlers to keep the power-packed batting line-up of Mumbai Indians quiet. Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, will be well aware of the RCB vulnerabilities and are likely to target those early in the game. These two teams have been two of the three best teams in the IPL 2020 and are likely to produce a cracking contest. Comparing the two teams on paper and on performance, Mumbai Indians appear to be slightly ahead due to their well-balanced unit. Unlike RCB, they have almost everyone who can hammer the ball for boundaries at the death overs. Keeping those and the other above stated factors into consideration, Mumbai Indians walk in as firm favorites to emerge on top in the upcoming encounter.
