MIW vs RCBW Match Prediction - Mar 06, 2023

The Mumbai Indians Women’s team will be looking to build upon its winning momentum as they take on the Royal Challengers Bangalore Women in the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League.

The Mumbai Indians Women registered a huge win in their opening match, played against the Gujarat Giants and as a result are at the top of the table. On the other hand, Royal Challengers Bangalore were completely outplayed by the Delhi Capitals and began their campaign on a losing note.

MIW vs RCBW Team Previews

Mumbai Indians Women

On paper, the Mumbai Indians have one of the strongest batting line-ups in the WPL and they lived up to the hype in the opening match. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur led her team from the front, scoring 65 of just 30 deliveries. The other top-order batters, including Hayley Matthews, Nat Sciver-Brunt, and Amelia Kerr all chipped in to get MI to a massive total of 207-5.

The Mumbai Indians have invested heavily in getting some world-class all-rounders for their team and the strategy seems to be reaping good benefits for them. Amelia Kerr and Nat Sciver-Brunt chipped in with both, the bat as well as the ball and played an important role in helping their team win.

In addition to Amelia and Sciver-Brunt, the team also has the likes of Hayley Matthews and Pooja Vastrakar, both of whom can score runs at a brisk pace. Saika Ishaque, who has done well for India A in their recent matches, was the pick of the bowlers as she picked up 4 wickets for just 11 runs.

She, along with Amelia Kerr, is likely to play an important role in this match as the pitch at the Brabourne Stadium is quite helpful for the spinners. Nat Sciver-Brunt is likely to open the new-ball attack along with Issy Wong, with Pooja Vastrakar and Jintimani Kalita chipping in during the middle overs.

Royal Challengers Bangalore Women

The Royal Challengers Bangalore had a tough opening fixture, where they faced a formidable opponent in the form of the Delhi Capitals Women.

The Royal Challengers bowling line-up was blown apart to smithereens by the Capitals as they posted a mammoth 223 for the loss of just 2 wickets. Bangalore’s top bowlers, including Megan Schutt and Renuka Singh, were hit all across the park as the seam bowlers had little success on the flat track.

The only successful bowler for Bangalore was Heather Knight, as she managed to claim both the wickets that fell for Delhi. During the chase, the top-order batters including Smriti Mandhana, Sophie Devine, and Ellyse Perry got decent starts but were unable to convert them into a match-winning inning. The young Indian all-rounders in the middle order failed to get going as Disha Kasat, Richa Ghosh, Kanika Ahuja, and Asha Shobana, all departed for single-digit scores.

Megan Schutt and Heather Knight put up some resistance towards the end, but it was too little too late for Bangalore as they ultimately fell short by 60 runs. The Royal Challengers will have to work a lot on their bowling in the upcoming games because, with the level they had displayed in the opening match, no total will be too small for the opposition batters.

MIW vs RCBW Toss Prediction

The team winning the toss will be looking to bat first here.

Read our guide on toss predictions to learn how we analyze and come up with our tips.

Pitch and Conditions

The Brabourne Stadium has an excellent surface to bat on thanks to the consistent bounce on offer. The quicker bowlers will struggle here as there is no help from the pitch for them. However, the spinners will be able to gain some purchase and turn from the pitch. The average first-inning score here is around 180, but the team batting first will be looking to score above 200 to give their bowlers some extra cushion.

The weather is expected to be clear with temperatures of around 30 degrees Celsius.

MIW vs RCBW Betting Tips

Riding on a massive win over the Gujarat Giants in the opening match, the Mumbai Indians Women will be hoping to put up a similar performance on Monday. The Royal Challengers Bangalore has a star-studded line-up, but just like their male counterparts, have failed to translate the on-paper strength into on-field performance.

As a result, we feel that the Mumbai Indians hold an edge here. The odds on offer are also quite competitive.

Smriti Mandhana is one of the most consistent opening batters in the World at the moment and is one of the biggest strengths of RCB this season. She has played domestic cricket for Maharashtra Women and has played some excellent innings in Mumbai. Playing under home conditions gives her an added advantage and looking at her recent form, we are backing her to be the top batter for Bangalore in this match.
