It’s a bottom of the table clash in the Big Bash as the Melbourne Renegades get ready to host the Hobart Hurricanes. The Melbourne Renegades are coming into this match with two wins in their previous two matches while the Hobart Hurricanes have lost their previous four completed games.
Both the teams are missing some of their international players who have been away on international duty. The Australia series is now over but the missing players have not been added to the squad for this match.
Spots in the BBL 09 playoffs are starting to get filled up and the Melbourne Stars have already assured themselves of a top-2 finish. The extra place on offer this year is the only reason why the Hobart Hurricanes and the Melbourne Renegades still have some hope remaining.
Melbourne Renegades vs Hobart Hurricanes BBL 09 is going to be played at the Docklands Stadium, Melbourne on the 21st of January 2020.
The Melbourne Renegades engineered one of the greatest escapes in BBL history against Brisbane Heat in the previous match. Defending just 164, Melbourne Renegades were staring down a hole as the Brisbane Heat raced to 84 for no loss inside the powerplay.
A brilliant bowling performance from the Melbourne Renegades and some suicidal batting from Brisbane Heat saw them lose 10 wickets in the next 36 runs!
The Melbourne Renegades are going to be full of confidence after that performance. From a betting point of view, though, what happened in the previous match was an exceptional event that is not likely to happen anytime again soon.
The Melbourne Renegades were in trouble during their batting stint and then rescued by some solid-hitting from Samit Patel and Mohammad Nabi. Cameron Boyce also had a brilliant game as he picked up four wickets for just 15 runs in his four overs.
The presence of both Samit Patel and Mohammad Nabi in the side is good for the Melbourne Renegades since it gives them some good spin-bowling options and depth in the batting. Overall, though, the Renegades needed to be rescued twice in the previous match from positions where winning seemed quite difficult.
Shaun Marsh, Marcus Harris, Sam Harper, BJ Webster, Will Sutherland, DT Christian, Mohammad Nabi, SR Patel, JD Wildermuth, Cameron Boyce, Andrew Fekete.
The Hobart Hurricanes were beaten by the Adelaide Strikers in a high-scoring match. The Hurricanes gave up 186 runs and then lost some early wickets in the chase. It did not seem like the Hurricanes would come close until David Miller scored a brilliant 90 not out from just 48 deliveries to bring them within 10 runs of the target.
Truth be told, though, the scoreboard looks closer than the match actually was.
The Hobart Hurricanes have struggled ever since Darcy Short has left for international duty and he still is not back in the squad. Matthew Wade has been a patch as Short’s replacement and the other batsmen have not stepped up either.
Caleb Jewell, Jake Doran, and even Ben McDermott have been quite poor in BBL 09. None of them have been able to score runs consistently enough or with any sort of conviction to help the Hobart Hurricanes win more matches.
They also have a number of players that are no very comfortable against spin, something that could be a problem at the Docklands stadium.
The Hobart Hurricanes bowling has been expensive in the last few matches but should not be counted out. Qais Ahmed and Clive Rose are two good spin-bowling options while Nathan Ellis is an excellent death bowler. Scott Boland has been in the wickets as well.
Matthew Wade, Mac Wright, J Doran, David Miller, Ben McDermott, GJ Bailey, Clive Rose, Thomas Rogers, Nathan Ellis, Qais Ahmad, Scott Boland.

The weather in Melbourne has been quite wet recently but the weather forecast is encouraging for match-day. We think we should be able to sneak in a full match without too many interruptions. The pitch at the Docklands stadium is a bit slow and helpful to the spinners.
Batsmen can take advantage of the small boundaries after they are set but starting out can be difficult.
Dream11 tips and Dream11 Prediction for Melbourne Renegades vs Hobart Hurricanes
Both these two teams have been quite listless in BBL 09. The recent form is definitely on the side of the Melbourne Renegades and the home conditions could help them as well. Shaun Marsh is one of the leading run-scorers in the league while the balance of the side is better with two spin-bowling all-rounders.
We think the Renegades can win their third game on the trot.
Bet on the Melbourne Renegades to win.
