MLR vs MLS Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Jan 14, 2023
Nothing beats a good old-fashioned Melbourne cricket rivalry! The two teams have already played this season, in which the Renegades won by 33 runs.
The Stars might be in seventh place with six points, but they did get a crushing win over the Strikers. The Renegades have two wins out of their last five matches and are fifth with 10 points.

Melbourne Renegades
The Renegades are a very even 5-5 this season, so they’ll be looking for a bit more consistency towards the end of the campaign. Apart from Sam Harper’s 63 runs, there wasn’t great batting in the recent loss to the Strikers. Harper is coming along nicely as a batter, though, already with 179 runs.
Finch has made 244 total runs and the Renegades will continue to rely on him throughout the season, although his two runs against Adelaide is slightly worrying.
For the bowling, Tom Rogers’ 0/29 against Adelaide was one to forget, but he’s still one of the best bowlers in the league with 17 wickets. Kane Richardson is a solid backup with 9 wickets, although he was pretty shocking versus the Strikers as well, with 1/63 and an ER of 15.50!

Melbourne Stars
Until the Heat took over the last spot, the Stars were the worst team in the BBL. However, the win against Adelaide by 9 wickets took many by surprise, especially as Melbourne held the Strikers to only 108 runs. While Thomas Rogers’ 51 runs was the standout performance, 108 was never a large target to reach, so it was more the Stars bowlers who should get the thanks.
Luke Wood continues to sparkle with 16 total wickets, although he took 1/33 in the win over Adelaide. It was Nathan Coulter-Nile with a great 3/17 performance as the main reason for the Melbourne win.
With Joe Clarke still scoring at an impressive rate (283 runs) and some of the team’s bowlers rounding into form, perhaps the Stars are starting to finally shine.

MLR vs MLS Toss Prediction
Any team winning the toss should look to bat first based on the stats, and the Renegades are actually 5-10 against the Stars when batting second, so they’ll hope to avoid that.

Pitch and Conditions
The Docklands pitch is one that teams usually like to bat on first, as it tends to slow down later in the contest. Spinners can be useful later on, but pace bowlers might find a lack of speed and bounce towards the end of the match.
MLR vs MLS Betting Tips
The odds are fairly close for this match, although the Renegades are marked as the favourite right now. The Stars’ big win over Adelaide does give some hope for the team, but if you want a safer bet, then it may be more prudent to pick the Renegades.
The Renegades have won three out of the last four games between the two teams, and the form of Finch, Harper, and Rogers is too much to ignore, even if the squad wasn’t brilliant against Adelaide.
Bet on the Renegades to win.
Bonus Cricket Bets
Too much experience and talent to not pick Finch.
He's the most reliable batter on the team right now.
A safe pick, but there's no one else we trust as much.
He picked up two wickets recently and usually plays well against the Renegades.
