MLSW vs ADSW Match Prediction - Nov 05, 2022

The ongoing season of the Women’s Big Bash League is almost halfway through, and the picture is getting clearer as to which teams will advance into the knockout stage. The Melbourne Stars Women will be taking on the Adelaide Strikers in a crucial match on Saturday.

Most betting sites are giving shorter odds for a Strikers win. But given how the Melbourne Stars have played off late,  it wouldn’t be surprising if the odds get a bit longer as match-day approaches.

MLSW vs ADSW Team Previews

Melbourne Stars Women

Nicole Faltum’s captaincy has been off to a disastrous start, as the Stars lost each of its first 3 matches. However, the team has managed to make a turnaround, winning 2 games since then. They have been quite unlucky as 2 of their matches, both against Sydney Thunders, were washed out due to rain, forcing them to share points. As a result, they are 5th on the points table.

They still have plenty of time to catch up and make it into the top 4 by the time the league stage ends.

Lauren Winfield Hill hasn’t been in the best of form this season but her innings of 47 in the last match provided the Stars a solid base to build on. Annabel Sutherland has been good with both, the bat as well as the ball, but more will be expected of her in the coming games. Sasha Moloney has finally hit some good form, as she picked 4 for 24 in the last game.

Adelaide Strikers Women

The Strikers have been in excellent form, defeating the likes of Sydney Sixers, Perth Scorchers, and Brisbane Heat in the last couple of weeks. However, their winning momentum was stopped in the tracks by the Melbourne Stars earlier this week, as they were defeated by 22 runs. Nevertheless, they are still 3rd on the points table, and a win here will take them to second place, above Perth Scorchers.

Katie Mack has been excellent at the top of the order throughout this season, scoring 207 runs so far. Madeline Penna is rock solid lower down the order, and her partnership with Mack was instrumental in the Strikers’ win over the Scorchers earlier this season.

Darcie Brown, who has spearheaded the bowling for the Strikers, has taken 11 wickets so far and has been quite economical too, with an ER of 5.92. Amanda Wellington has troubled quite a few batters with her leg breaks and will be a bowler to watch out for.

MLSW vs ADSW Toss Prediction

The team winning the toss would like to bat first here, to get a big score and put some pressure on the opposition.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch here isn’t easy to bat on, as there isn’t much bounce on offer. However, early on in the day, it will be easier to bat on. The spinners are likely to get some turn later on as the game progresses. A score of more than 140 will be difficult to chase in the second innings. The weather in Perth is expected to be bright and sunny, with temperatures below 25 degrees Celsius throughout the day.

MLSW vs ADSW Betting Tips

We are backing Melbourne Stars to win this one. They beat the Strikers in the last match and will take the field with much more confidence compared to their opponents. While the odds on offer are longer compared to the Strikers, we think that wagering on the Stars is worth the risk.

Bet on a Melbourne Stars win.
