MLSW vs BHW Match Prediction - Nov 20, 2022

The Stars have no chance of reaching the post-season and playing for the championship, but this is still a young and talented squad that will keep fighting until the very end. They’re in sixth place on the ladder and won’t have enough points to enter the top four.

The Heat are sitting nicely in second place with an 8-5 record, and while they can’t reach the top spot, Brisbane is still ensured of a finals spot and will no doubt be tough work when the title battle gets underway.

MLSW vs BHW Team Previews

Melbourne Stars Women

The Stars will face the Scorchers the day before the Heat, so that’s two very tough games for the struggling Melbourne side. The team has played well below expectations and has a 4-6 record, but they can pull out surprise wins, like against the Hurricanes on November 15th.

Much of the team’s success is down to allrounder Annabel Sutherland, who is leading the Stars with 284 runs and 20 wickets. She’s only 21 years old and remains the squad’s biggest talent for the future. If the Stars can build a respectable team around her, then they may have something next year.

Sutherland has some help from Alice Capsey and Sasha Moloney, with Capsey especially batting incredibly well after her 80* against Hobart. This season is a loss for the Stars, but this talented trio can lead Melbourne to a better record for the following season.

Brisbane Heat Women

The Heat have had fluctuating results of late, as the last five games included two losses and three wins. Still, reaching the finals is nothing to sniff at and they’ll be preparing themselves for the post-season.

The injury to star batter Georgia Redmayne looms over the squad (second-most runs with 333), as she’s still out with a hamstring injury. She didn’t play in the loss to the Sixers and it’s still a mystery as to when she’ll return. The Heat may well just rest her until the finals begin.

Although they’re not quite as prolific as Redmayne, Brisbane still has Grace Harris and Amelia Kerr to lead the batting, and these two are capable of big scores when necessary. Harris did make 74 runs against the Thunder a few weeks ago.

The bowling remains as strong as ever, with Nicola Hancock (22 wickets), Jessica Jonassen (20), and Amelia Kerr (18) all displaying great effort in recent games. The Heat are still in a good position with these three bowlers in the squad, and there are enough batters to fill the void left by Redmayne.

MLSW vs BHW Toss Prediction

The Heat are 6-2 when batting second against the Stars, so it looks like they’ll want Melbourne to bat first if Brisbane wins the toss.

Pitch and Conditions

Most players find this pitch quite balanced, but Brisbane will likely still want to bowl first.

MLSW vs BHW Betting Tips

Even without Redmayne, the Heat are still one of the best sides in the WBBL and will certainly make light work of the Stars. It won’t be an easy victory by any means, as Melbourne has proved they can beat great teams and Sutherland is no fun to play against. Nevertheless, the skill and experience of Brisbane will be too much.

Bet on Brisbane to win.
