MLSW vs HBHW Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Nov 18, 2020

MLSW vs HBHW Match Prediction - Nov 18, 2020

The Melbourne Stars are in the WBBL playoffs already. They have seven wins to their name and are going to be in the playoffs no matter what happens from here. The Hobart Hurricanes have just three wins to their name so far and need to win all their remaining matches to have a chance of sneaking through.

The two teams have been polar opposites in terms of consistency and the manner in which they have played their cricket. Can the Hobart Hurricanes catch the Melbourne Stars off-guard or will the Lanning train continue to roll on?

Melbourne Stars vs Hobart Hurricanes WBBL 2020 is going to be played at the Hurstville Oval, Sydney on the 18th of November 2020.

MLSW vs HBHW Team Previews

Melbourne Stars Women

Meg Lanning has been very impressive in this season of the WBBL. She has 360 runs to her name which is seven runs lesser than Beth Mooney but she has also played one inning lesser. She also has been more consistent than anyone else with five fifties to her name.

She is going to be the prize wicket in this match as well.

Ellyse Villani and Mignon d Preez have also been very good with the bat providing the Melbourne Stars with a lot of steel upfront. Annabel Sutherland and the middle-order have not been tested out fully and that may be a concern later in the tournament.

Holly Ferling, Annabel Sutherland, Rosemary Mair, Sophie Day, and Alana King form a pretty decent bowling attack which seems to be I god form as well. There is a lack of experience and big names in the attack, though, a strong batting lineup could put in under pressure.

Nicole Faltum, Meg Lanning, Mignon du Preez, Elyse Villani, Lucy Cripps, Natalie Sciver, Annabel Sutherland, Katherine Brunt, Holly Ferling, Alana King, Sophie Day.

Hobart Hurricanes Women

The Hobart Hurricanes decided to open with their best two batters against the Adelaide Strikers in the previous match. Rachel Priest and Hayley Mathews came out to bat and failed. This was problematic because these two have been the only ones contributing to the Hurricanes meaningfully with the bat.

We don’t think the Hurricanes will repeat that mistake in this next match.

There is no doubt that the Hurricanes have a weaker batting lineup than the Melbourne Stars. They just don’t have the same kind of depth or the batters in the same kind of form.

Rachel Priest has been very good in some matches and needs to come up with another fantastic individual performance to be able to make her team competitive.

Hayley Matthews and Belinda Vakarewa are the leading bowlers for the Hurricanes but Nicola Carey and Brooke Hepburn also bowled pretty well in the previous match. The strength of the bowling attack is average on most days.

MLSW vs HBHW Toss Prediction

The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first and set the total. Chasing under pressure is something that most teams want to avoid in the WBBL.

Pitch and Conditions

The Hurstville Oval is a slow surface but one that has absolutely nothing in it for either the bowlers or the batters. The pitch is flat and the batters can score freely after getting set. The slower, accurate bowlers are the ones that are going to be the most difficult to score off.

Anything around 135-140 is going to be tricky to chase down.

MLSW vs HBHW Betting Tips

We have no hesitation in sticking with the favorite in this contest. The Melbourne Stars have won all their matches except one that they lost in a Super Over. They have been very consistent and should be able to continue to dominate the Hobart Hurricanes.

Bet on the Melbourne Stars to win.
