MLSW vs HBHW Match Prediction - Oct 20, 2019

It's all happening in Women's Big Bash League, and given the results we witnessed on the second day of the tournament, we are likely to have some fun-filled days in the competition ahead. Melbourne Stars and Hobart Hurricanes have gotten off to contrasting starts, but it can all even out when the two teams meet each other on 20th October at Junction Oval, Melbourne. It's an important fixture for both sides, albeit for different reasons, and they both are likely to come out all guns blazing on Sunday.

MLSW vs HBHW Team Previews

Melbourne Stars Women

The Stars, who were expected to do better than they did in the last edition of the tournament, failed to get off to the start they were looking for as they lost to Hobart Hurricanes in what was the opening match for both the sides. They are now placed at the fourth spot in the points table and will be looking to consolidate their position in the top half.

Against Hobart Hurricanes, the same team they are set to play against up next, Melbourne Stars fumbled at many moments, which eventually cost them the match. Chasing a total of 165, the Stars failed to get off to a solid start as they lost half their side before putting half of the total runs required on the board. A partnership between EA Osborne and T Flintoff kept them in the hunt, but once Osborne was dismissed, the rest of the team fell like a pack of the cards.

Earlier with the ball, they started well with the wicket in the third over of the innings, but the middle over bowlers failed to capitalize as the Hurricanes ended up scoring way more than they looked like scoring at the half-way stage. As it turned out to be, those few extra runs conceded in the middle, and death overs eventually proved to be the difference between the two sides.

Hobart Hurricanes Women

Hurricanes got off to a flying start in the tournament and they'll be looking to make it two in two when they meet the Stars in just a day's time. They are placed right above the Stars at the ladder and will be looking to rise to the top with a win in this upcoming fixture.

While EG Fazackerley played a key role to get the Hurricanes to a solid start in the previous encounter as she played a well-compiled knock of 46, coming in just 33 deliveries, their win was setup by a swashbuckling knock from CL Tyron, who scored 46 off just 18 deliveries.

Hurricanes got to a stellar score of 164 runs and their bowlers did a fantastic job in defending that total. B Vakarewa and ML Gibson were the pick of their bowlers and returned with the figures of 3 for 27 and 3 for 26 in their respective four overs each. On the back of the superb performances from their batsmen as well as the bowlers, the Hurricanes won the match by 20 runs.

MLSW vs HBHW Betting Tips

These are early days in the tournament, but points on the board matter as much now as they do in the back-end of the competition. Hurricanes have already had an excellent start, and another win here should put them at the top of the ladder. Even though they'd have drawn plenty of confidence from the first match, the Stars have a better-balanced unit, and are, therefore, our pick to emerge on top in the upcoming encounter.
