Melbourne Stars Women

The Stars are 6 points away from the top 4, and with 5 matches still to go, they do have a theoretical chance of advancing into the next stage. However, for that to happen, the Stars need plenty of results to go their way.

Much of the limited success that the Stars have achieved can be attributed to Annabel Sutherland. She is the top scorer as well as the top wicket-taker for the Stars this season. Lauren Winfield-Hill has played some good knocks at the top of the order but has failed to garner support from the other batters.

The bowling has been a bit better for them, as Sasha Moloney, Sophie Day, and Kim Garth have all picked up wickets at regular intervals. 

Melbourne Renegades Women

The Renegades had finished 2nd on the points table in the last season and made it to the Challenger stage in the knockouts. However, the story has been quite the reverse this year, as they are currently sitting 2nd from the bottom in the points table.

With just 3 matches to go for them, the Renegades have no way to reach the top 4 and will be looking for a consolation win against the arch-rivals. It is truly a time to introspect, as despite having some excellent all-rounders in the form of Sophie Molineux and Hayley Matthews, the team has failed to put up a good show.

Carly Leeson and Courtney Webb have been good lower down the order, but the top order has failed to give the team consistently good starts. Molineux has been at the forefront of the bowling attack and has received good support from Shabnim Ismail. However, the other bowlers have failed to put pressure on the opposing teams.
