There is nothing to much that seems to change for the Melbourne Stars women irrespective of the team they come up against as they slumped to their eighth loss in nine matches. They are now going to be taking on a Perth Scorchers team that also suffered a heavy defeat in its previous match.
Unlike the Melbourne Stars, though, the Perth Scorchers are right in the fight for a WBBL playoff spot and are going to be very keen to get the maximum possible points from this game. Currently, the Perth Scorchers Women are separated from the fourth spot by net run-rate only.
Melbourne Stars Women vs Perth Scorchers Women WBBL 05 is going to be played at the Junction Oval, Melbourne on the 20th of November 2019.
A lot of the recent matches that the Melbourne Stars have played seem to go one way only. The team enters the match hoping that its batting order is going to be able to make the most of its chances and get it to a big total because the bowling remains ineffective whatever the conditions may be.
Lizelle Lee, Ellyse Villani, and Mignon du Preez are well respected names in women’s cricket and any team would like to have them in their side. Unfortunately, all three of them do not seem to be able to perform in the same game or have been leaving the job unfinished when they do fire.
Mignon du Preez seems like the most likely player to make a contribution with the bat as her good run of form has been the most sustained. It must be remembered that the Perth Scorchers women do not have a very strong bowling attacj either and there is room for it to be dominated.
We are struggling to find too many good things with the Melbourne Stars bowling. None of their bowlers have been able to find their footing in this edition of the WBBL and seem to depend more on the batters making a mistake rather than any plan coming to fruition.
Hoping for individual brilliance seems to the way forward for the Melbourne Stars at the moment.
Elyse Villani, Lizelle Lee, Mignon du Preez, Annabel Sutherland, Erin Osborne, Nicole Faltum, Tess Flintoff, Alana King, Maddie Penna, Nicola Hancock, Holly Ferling.
A heavy defeat to the Brisbane Heat women set back the Perth Scorchers women a bit. They are now joined fourth on the league table with the Melbourne Renegades and need to keep the pressure on the other teams otherwise they will leave themselves a very tricky last few matches.
Meg Lanning, Amy Ellen Jones, Georgia Redmayne, Natalie Sciver, and Nicole Bolton are all part of the formidable Perth Scorchers batting lineup. There are a lot of good players in this lineup but it appears as if the main thrust of run scoring falls on Meg Lanning.
She is the player that is going to make or break the final part of WBBL 05 for the Perth Scorchers.
If she can find the kind of form that Beth Mooney or Ellyse Perry have found then the Pert Scorchers are going to sail through. If not, then someone else from the batting lineup needs to step up.
The bowling was a bit underwhelming against Brisbane Heat but overall Nicole Bolton, Natalie Sciver, Kim Garth, and Heather Graham have had their moments in this tournament. They will know that picking up some early wickets is the key to keeping the Melbourne Stars down and so they must start with the utmost aggression.
Consistency seems to be the one thing missing from the Perth Scorchers campaign at the moment.
Amy Ellen Jones, Meg Lanning, Georgia Redmayne, Natalie Sciver, Chloe Piparo, Heather Graham, Jemma Barsby, Kim Garth, Taneale Peschel, S Betts, Emma King.

The weather forecast in Melbourne is very good for match day and we should not have any interruptions. The pitch at the Junction Oval has been full of runs this season and another surface that is excellent for the batters can be expected.
A score of around 140-150 seems to be par for the surface.
The Melbourne Stars remain dangerous because of their batting lineup but the lack of performances is extremely disheartening. We don’t think we are willing to bet on a turnaround just yet. The Perth Scorchers are the team to back in this contest.
Bet on the Perth Scorchers to win.
