The semi-finals of the WBBL are here and we have two excellent matches lined up. Up first, the Melbourne Stars are going to be taking on the Perth Scorchers. The Melbourne Stars have been excellent throughout the WBBL 2020 season and fully deserve their place in the semis.
8 wins out of their 14 matches put them at the top of the leaderboard after the group stage. The Perth Scorchers have had more of a roller coaster through the group stage. They started poorly, then got into the zone, and then stumbled before making it to the semi-final.
Both the teams have lost their most recent match.
Melbourne Stars vs Perth Scorchers WBBL 2020 is going to be played at the North Sydney Oval, Sydney on the 25th of November 2020.
The Melbourne Stars lost their most recent match to the Sydney Sixers but that was only because they came across a rampaging Alyssa Healy. We all know there is nothing to be done once Healy is in top-gear.
Instead, look at the positives from that game. Meg Lanning continued her smashing form and now has close to 400 runs this season. The Stars made 178 in just 19 overs but ended up losing. That is not a target that is going to be chased down too many times.
Nate Sciver, Ellyse Villani, Mignon du Preez, and Annabel Sutherland are all in good batting form, making the Melbourne Stars a formidable team to come across.
In most matches, Nate Sciver, Katherine Brunt, Sophie Day, Tess Flintoff, and Alana King have been pretty decent. This is not the strongest bowling attack but it is one that can give the Perth Scorchers some tough moments.
Meg Lanning, Elyse Villani, Mignon du Preez, Natalie Sciver, Annabel Sutherland, Katherine Brunt, Erin Osborne, Alana King, Tess Flintoff, Nicole Faltum, Sophie Day.
Sophie Devine and Beth Mooney are the two players that are going to lead the challenge for the Perth Scorchers. Devine is back from her injury and has played the last two group matches. Both Beth Mooney and Sophie Devine are in excellent batting form.
This is the pair that needs to do the bulk of the work for the Scorchers. They are quite capable of doing that as well as we have seen in WBBL 2020. The questions start to pile up if one of these batters gets out early.
Chloe Piparo and Amy Jones are also in the lineup but overall, the depth of the Perth Scorchers batting seems to be a bit thin. They are going to find it hard to recover from early losses.
Taneale Peschel, Nicole Bolton, and Sarah Glen are going to lead a pretty decent bowling attack.
Neither of the sides is one that is looking to win this match on the strength of its bowling. The victory has to come on the back of the batting and that is very clear.
Sophie Devine, Beth Mooney, Amy Ellen Jones, Chloe Piparo, Heather Graham, Nicole Bolton, M Carmichael, Taneale Peschel, Sarah Glenn, Piepa Cleary, S Betts.
The team that wins the toss would like to bat first and get a big score on the board. Putting the opposition under pressure and forcing them to change their strategy has to be the way to go here.

The North Sydney Oval has proven itself to be one of the highest-scoring venues in WBBL 2020. The pitch is flat and has nothing in it for the bowlers. The boundaries are small and the outfield s pretty quick as well.
We think a score of around 150 can be seen as par considering the strength of the batters on both teams.
This is a tough one but we are backing the upset in this match. Beth Mooney and Sophie Devine have proven themselves to be extremely consistent and ruthless. This is their time. The Melbourne Stars also seem to have a bowling lineup that is a bit thinner than the Perth Scorchers.
