MOT vs EDR Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Jul 31, 2019

After breaking for a day, Global T20 Canada resumes again as Edmonton Royals take on Montreal Tigers on Wednesday, 31st July. While the Royals are the only team in the competition to not to win a match yet in the tournament, the Tigers, too, haven't looked good ever since posting a win in their first match of the competition. Even though the Tigers are placed within the top-four sides in the points table as of now, things can change very quickly considering the nature of the format. They'll be looking to register their second win of the tournament and strengthen their position at the ladder whereas the Edmonton Royals will be looking to get into contention for the playoffs. A loss here for Edmonton Royals is likely to make their qualification for the next round extremely difficult, and they'd love to not get into the situation. With survival in the tournament at stake, the Royals will come all guns blazing into the match.
MOT vs EDR Team Previews
Montreal Tigers
Montreal Tigers survived a Chris Gayle scare in their last match as they escaped a sure loss with a point to their name, thanks to relentless rain on Monday. After a win in their first match, their performance has primarily been listless, with both bat and ball. They were restricted for a dismal score in their second match and then went onto concede the highest score ever in the history of the tournament.
Bowling first in their previous match, their bowlers failed to exert any pressure whatsoever on Vancouver Knights and conceded a record 276 for 3 in 20 overs. Considering that their batting lineup hadn't been in fine form, that was an impossible-looking chase, but the rain arrived just on time to hand them a critical point out of it.
Even though it was Chris Gayle special which was on display on Sunday, their bowling was opposite of tight. Their bowlers were all over the place to all the Knights' batsmen, and the pressure let the flood gates open in death overs, and Gayle and Co. smashed plenty of runs in the last five overs. The likes of Narine, Naveed, and Abbott were all taken apart and thrashed to all parts of the ground.
Even in their second match, the game before the one against the Knights, their bowlers were clueless and failed to pick up even one wicket. With batting and bowling not clicking from the last few matches, the Tigers have a massive problem at their hands which they need to solve as soon as possible if they want to stay in the hunt for the playoffs.
Montreal Tigers Playing 11
Kyle Coetzer, Dinesh Chandimal, Ruvindu Gunasekera, Anton Devcich, GJ Bailey, Matthew Cross, Mohammad Naveed, Nikhil Dutta, Dillon Heyliger, Fawad Ahmed, Scott Kuggeleijn.
Edmonton Royals
It's been surprising that despite having the likes of Faf du Plessis, Jimmy Neesham, Ben Cutting, and Mohammad Hafeez, the Royals have failed to pick up a point in the tournament thus far. They are languishing at the bottom of the ladder and are desperately looking for a win to stay in the competition.
Despite being at the bottom of the table, they have a positive that they have played only a couple of matches thus far wherein they lost to Toronto Nationals and Brampton Wolves. They have a terrific batting lineup, which however has failed to fire in the tournament thus far. It's high time for their star players to rise to the occasion and take them to a competitive total.
While their batting has looked like a shadow of what it is capable of, their bowling has done pretty well. Shadab Khan has been the pick of their bowlers, picking up five wickets in the two matches. With the presence of decent all-rounders at their disposal, they bat deep without compromising on varieties in their bowling attack. All in all, they are a pretty good side on paper but has taken a little extra time to get going. If their batsmen can perform to their potential going forward in the competition, they are sure to give a hard time to their opponents.
Edmonton Royals Playing 11
Richie Berrington, Navneet Dhaliwal, Mohammad Hafeez, Faf du Plessis, Ben Cutting, Shadab Khan, Anshuman Rath, James Neesham, Safyaan Sharif, Kyle Fitzroy Phill, Satsimranjit Dhindsa.

MOT vs EDR Betting Tips
Although Montreal Tigers have a win up their sleeve in the tournament so far, they have, by large, fared worse than the Edmonton Royals. The Royals' bowlers have done exceedingly well so far, but their batsmen have failed to join the party. The Tigers, on the other hand, have failed in both the departments in their last couple of matches and do not seem to be improved. Their bowlers have been carted all around the park with none of their bowlers having an economy of fewer than ten runs an over. Comparing the two teams based on form and man to man, the Royals are better placed to emerge on top in the upcoming fixture.
