The PSL Playoffs are back after a pandemic enforced playoff and the teams are going to lock horns once again. There is a lot at stake. Three out of the four teams in the PSL playoffs have never been to the final before. Two of the teams are playing the playoffs for the first time and so we have a bit of a changing of the guard of the PSL.
The Qualifier is going to be placed between Multan Sultans and the Karachi Kings. The winner of this team is going to go straight to the PSL FInals while the loser gets another chance. With so much of squad churn in both the teams, this advantage of having one extra mistake to make could be crucial.
Multan Sultans vs Lahore Qalandars PSL 2020 is going to be played at the National Stadium, Karachi on the 14th of November 2020.
The most impressive team in the group stage of the PSL, the Multan Sultans are going to have to regroup quickly to have a chance of making an impact in the playoffs. They have been among the hardest hit by the squad changes as a lot of their overseas players are unable to make it.
This means they are going to be without James Vince, Fabian Allen, Moeen Ali, and Mahmudullah.
The team has brought in Adam Lyth, Joe Denly and Brendan Taylor as replacements.
Zeeshan Ashraf, Shan Masood, Rillee Rossouw, and Khushdil Shah remain the same from the team that was dominating the group stage. That means that the Multan Sultans still have a lot of batting power at their disposal.
Rilee Rossow and Khushdil Shah can provide the power in the middle while someone like Adam Lyth can partner with Shan Masood at the top of the order. Joe Denly also provides an all-round replacement and can bat at any stage of the game.
We still like the batting but the onus is going to be on Masood at the top and for the new players to acclimate quickly.
Imran Tahir, Sohail Tanvir, and Shahid Afridi will lead a strong bowling attack that is adept at T20 cricket without being the biggest names around. Usman Qadir is also in great form and could find a place in the eleven if the balance dictates it.
Zeeshan Ashraf, Adam Lyth, Shan Masood, Rilee Rossouw, RS Bopara, Khushdil Shah, SMSK Afridi, Sohail Tanvir, Mohammad Ilyas, Imran Tahir, Mohammad Irfan.
The Karachi Kings are a strong team that has the advantage of playing at home. Led by babar Azam, the Karachi Kings will be playing this tournament in honor of Dean Jones, their coach who passed away recently.
Babar Azam is the best batsman in Pakistan and perhaps the world when it comes to T20 cricket. He is in great form and is going to lead from the front. Azam is also the current highest run-scorer in the PSL.
He will partner with Sharjeel Khan at the top of the order and could make life very difficult for the Multan Sultan batsmen. The question, though, is what happens when Babar Azam gets out early?
Alex Hales and Cameron Delport could play in the side to give it some depth or maybe Chadwick Walton could take one spot. We think Wayne Parnell is sure to play because of his all-round abilities and the death bowling expertise he brings.
Mohammad Amir is the bowler to watch here. He has fallen out of favor with the National Selectors after picking and choosing where to play. Can he make a big impact in this match and show that he still deserves a place in the team with the World T20 around the corner?
We think the Karachi Kings are a bit too dependent on Babar Azam and do not have the same kind of depth that their opponents do.
AD Hales, Babar Azam, Sharjeel Khan, CAK Walton, Iftikhar Ahmed, SI Wasim, Sherfane Rutherford, Wayne Parnell, Mohammad Amir, Arshad Iqbal, Waqas Maqsood.
The team that wins the toss may be happy to field first. There has been a big break in the cricket and easing into the game is always preferable. A look at the surface to see how it behaves is always an advantage too.

The conditions in Karachi are going to be excellent for batting. We are sure that the weather is going to co-operate and the pitch is going to be a belter. Teams will want to get something in the range of 175-180 batting first.
The bowlers are not going to have too much help from the surface and will have to rely on their lengths to keep the batsmen in check.
We are going to back the Multan Sultans in this contest. They have a better-balanced team and their batting certainly seems stronger. We also like the replacements that they have brought in. The Karachi Kings have a superstar batting lineup but their bowling is a bit weak for our liking.
Bet on the Multan Sultans to win.
