About the Match
Pune Warriors India is languishing at the bottom of the table, but despite the disappointing performance by them, their fans keep on supporting them. They have yet another opportunity to impress their fans as they take on their neighbours Mumbai Indians on 11th May 2013. The Warriors, unlike their name suggests, have lost more of their game without putting up a fighting performance. Mumbai on the other hand, have played exceedingly well and have justified their star-studded lineup since Rohit Sharma took over the captaincy. Since the cities are close in proximity, there would be almost equal support for both the sides.
Pune Warriors India:
Just as they performed last year, Pune Warriors India have been defeated consistently and now they stand at the bottom of the table. Pune Warriors India lost to Kolkata Knight Riders a night ago while chasing a modest total. Luckily for Pune Warriors India, their top two are in good form, and unfortunately they’ve been the only two who have been firing. They have the big names like Yuvraj and Mathews in their side, but still the team cannot get going. They have a strong bowling unit, but they give away too many runs in the final five in all of their games. If they improve on that part and a do something with their batting, they do have a formidable lineup.
It hasn’t been a long time since Rohit Sharma started to lead Mumbai Indians, but he has managed to turn their luck fairly quickly and easily. From a couple of games, Mumbai is looking to be an even more difficult side to beat as it cruised past Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders. Sachin Tendulkar and Dwayne Smith are providing them brisk and stable start while Rohit, Karthick and Harbhajan are giving the final thrust later in the innings. In the beginning stages, they had a brilliant bowling attack on paper, but now it is beginning to show on the field too. They are just a step away from playoffs and they appear to be peaking just at the right time.
Can Pune turn the table against their neighbors and marching Mumbai Indians at their home ground? Pune has got the side, but do not seem to gelling together as they’d have liked. They have nothing to lose and they should make them play fearlessly. Unfortunately for them, Mumbai is already playing fearless cricket and they have the momentum on their side. The pitch is expected to be slow which would assist Mumbai’s spinners. Pune Warriors India is a good side, but apart from the home conditions, nothing appears to be support supporting them concretely enough. Mumbai Indians are definitely firm favorites for this side.
