About the Match
Chris Gayle’s brilliant little cameo of 66 balls is still fresh in peoples’ mind and Royal Challengers from Bangalore move to Mumbai to take on Mumbai Indians on April 26th 2013. Both the teams are coming after a win to their name with the difference being margin of runs. Mumbai Indians just managed to get past the line while Royal Challengers Bangalore thrashed PWI to stay at the top of the table. Wankhede’s track has behaved nicely in past with some assist for spinners and it isn’t expected to be much different. Heaps of runs are expected in what could be an interesting contest between two star-studded lineups.
Mumbai Indians managed to beat KKR in their last game at Eden Gardens. It looks like that dropping Ponting has done lots of favor, not only bringing in Dwayne Smith as a swashbuckling batsman, but also giving an extra option in bowling without losing on fielding. Right from top to bottom, almost everyone can bat in their team. They have plenty of good bowlers like Johnson, Harbhajan, Pollard, Ojha and Lasith Malinga. On paper, they have the best batting order and bowling looks good too. They’ve found the winning ways and if their batsmen fire, it would be very difficult to stop Mumbai.
Royal Challengers Bangalore:
After breaking so many records in their previous game, RCB would love to repeat it. Chris Gayle was fantastic in previous game who scored 175 and won the game for them singlehandedly. Most of the time, only Gayle would be enough for destructing opposition, but even if he fails, RCB still have Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers sitting on the bench. Along with their batting, they have well balanced bowling attack consisting of R Vinay Kumar, Murali Kartik and Jaidev Unadkat. They won six out of eight matches played so far and it would be extremely tough to stop their winning roll.
Mumbai has just found the winning ways, but can they continue on it? Mumbai Indians is a well-balanced side with Sachin, Sharma and Karthick in good form. It would be difficult to stop them and to add to it, they are playing on their home ground. However, ruling Bangalore out with would be a big mistake. RCB’s squad is full of match winners beginning from Chris Gayle and including everyone in their team. Just the presence of Chris Gayle puts the opposition bowler under tremendous amount of pressure. Furthermore, Gayle, Kohli and de Villiers are in excellent form and due to above reasons Royal Challengers Bangalore are firm favorites for me.
