The beginning of Karnataka Premier League was delayed by a day as the first match of the tournament, which was played between Bengaluru Blasters and Mysuru Warriors, was canceled due to inclement weather conditions. The second match of the competition, therefore, was the first match, which yielded a result and one side got off the mark, as far as a win is concerned. Shivamogga Lions defeated Hubli Tigers in the eventual first match of the tournaments and are now sitting pretty at the top of the table. They are set to face Mysuru Warriors in their upcoming fixture, which is to be played on 18th August at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Even though they were not the favorites to win the first match, Mysuru Warriors would not be pleased with the result considering that they did not get the game time and match practice which can be so crucial in the back-end of the tournament.
Due to the points shared with the Blasters in their previous game, Mysuru Warriors are currently placed at the fourth spot in the points table, jointly held with the Blasters.
They haven't done in this edition of the tournament yet, but they did reasonably well in the last edition where they were knocked out by Blasters in the first playoff. They finished at the fourth spot at the ladder with three wins and three losses to their name, amounting to six points. They'll be looking to improve their standings this time around, and they certainly have the ammunition to do it.

Shivamogga Lions were the most disappointing team last year as they lost all their six matches, consequently failing to put even a point on the board.
The Lions, however, made a few changes in their lineup and as a result, they thumped Hubli Tigers in their opening contest of the tournament. Their bowlers played a massive role in their win as they restricted Hubli Tigers to a total of just 154. T Pradeep, HS Sharath, and Rishabh Singh kept on picking up wickets at regular intervals which never allowed the Tigers to get going with the bat.
The same was the case with the bat for the Shivamogga as NU Ullal held up one end, which never allowed Tigers to get back into the match. They have a good batting lineup, at least on paper, and with the likes Ullal, Ballal, and Deshpande in fine form, along with a good bowling unit, the Lions will not be an easy team to face on Sunday.

These are early days of the tournament and judging the two sides on the basis of performance will not be the right thing to do, especially with one team coming off an abandoned match. Having said that, the Lions have the momentum with a superb win in their previous match and with their batting as well the bowling looking strong, they are firm favorites to emerge on top in the upcoming fixture as well.
