NAM vs NL Match Prediction - Oct 20, 2021

ICC World T20 has gotten off to a flying start and we are already staring at a close finish as far as progression to the next round is concerned. Things are pretty tight in the group stage with only Papua New Guinea out of contention so far.

Netherlands and Namibia both started off with a loss in their respective matches and will be desperate to get a win to get their campaign back on track. They'll both meet each other in the next Group A match of the tournament, the winner of which will continue to stay alive in the hunt. For the losing team, however, the door to the exit will be just a step away.

The match between the two sides is to be played at Sheikh Zayed International Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi on 20th October 2021.

NAM vs NL Team Previews

Namibia

Namibia did a terrific job by qualifying for ICC World T20 2021 and their performance in the qualifiers is an evidence enough that they aren't a team to be taken lightly. Even though they lost their opening match by a comprehensive margin, they did show some brilliant moments. They'll be looking to make most of the advantageous situations in the matches going forward.

Batting first against Sri Lanka in their opening contest, Namibia looked in a decent position at one stage but aiming too high probably cost them dearly. Barring Craig Williams, none of Namibia's batsmen managed to get going in the previous match and he will once again be the key to Namibia's fortunes. He has four fifties in his last five matches and could prove to be a threat.

Apart from Williams, all eyes will be on David Wiese, who has wealth of experience of playing in T20 leagues across the globe. On the bowling front, they did start well against Sri Lanka, but the total to defend was too low to put any pressure whatsoever. All in all, Namibia has a team, which is a bit too over-reliant on a couple of players and if they come good, Namibia could be a threat to even the best in the business.

Namibia Playing 11

Stephan Baard, Zane Green, Craig Williams, Gerhard Erasmus, D Wiese, JJ Smit, Michael Van Lingen, Jan Frylinck, Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton, Ruben Trumpelmann, Bernard Scholtz.

Netherlands

Netherlands were short on match practice when they first arrived in the UAE and that was clearly apparent in their match against Ireland. Even though the teams did go through the regular preparations, including the warm-ups, Netherlands looked a little rusty in their first match. Having said that, they are still pretty much in business and this upcoming match holds massive importance for them.

At the moment, Netherlands are placed at the third spot on the ladder with zero points and a terrible net run rate of -1.755. Not only would they want to register a win here, but they'll also want to make sure that they register a win big enough to boost their net run rate, which can become crucial if things get tight.

On paper, Netherlands have a side that has a decent amalgamation of youth and experience. They have a middle-order that oozes class with the likes of Colin Ackermann and Ryan ten Doeschate available. They both were dismissed without much contribution in the previous match and it is now high time that they join the party. At the top, Max O'Dowd did a decent job, scoring 51 off 47, but lack of support meant the Netherlands crumbling for a subpar score, which was to be chased with remarkable ease.

All in all, Netherlands did put up a subpar performance in the first match and they will be wary of that. They have a far better team on paper and if they can play to their potential, this match would be a walk in the park for them.

Netherlands Playing 11

Max O'Dowd, Stephan Myburgh, Bas de Leede, Colin Ackermann, RN ten Doeschate, Scott Edwards, RE Van Der Merwe, Pieter Seelaar, Logan van Beek, Timm van der Gugten, Fred Klaassen.

NAM vs NL Betting Tips

Cricket is a cruel game and it is more so for the associates. While the winning team here will still have some hopes to qualify, the T20 World Cup campaign will take a big hit for the team that is defeated on Wednesday. While Namibia have a number of talented players available, Netherlands have experience. Considering that and the fact that the Netherlands have a decent record against Namibia should add to their confidence. We do not think there will be an upset here and betting on a Netherlands win should be the way to go.

The only batsman who looked settled and at ease in the previous match for Namibia was Craig Williams. He was the prime reason Netherlands managed to put a respectable total. Also, he is terrific form at the moment and that is evident from the fact that he already has four fifties from his last five matches. We are backing him to get another one today.
