There couldn't be a tighter contest than as it is in the ongoing ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2. As many as three teams are tied at the top of the table with the possibility of the fourth team joining them as well. Following Scotland, USA, and Oman, Namibia are currently placed at the fourth place and will have an opportunity to get to the top of the table when they take on Papua New Guinea in the last match of the triangular series, which is being played between USA, Namibia, and Papua New Guinea. The game is to be played at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill, Florida on 23rd Septemeber.
In the World Cup League 2 so far, Namibia have been brilliant and have the opportunity to get to the top of the table, thanks to their superb net run-rate. They have played least number of matches in the tournament so far with three games to their name and have won two of them. Additionally, they have superb net run-rate of 0.53, which could prove to be a crucial factor should things get tight towards the end of the league.
The upcoming match will be their second meeting with Papua New Guinea in the space of 24 hours, and they'd love to repeat their performance. Chasing a relatively modest total, Namibia rallied past Papua New Guinea with considerable ease. Gerhard Erasmus, who scored 88 runs, was the pick of their batsmen and combined well with JP Kotze and CG Williams to take Namibia to a victory.
Earlier with the ball, Bernard Scholtz bowled brilliantly and returned with the impressive figures of 26 for 2 in his ten overs. He was ably assisted by Z Groenewald as Groenewald not only kept things tight in the middle overs but also picked up three crucial wickets. Considering how they did in the previous match and their overall performance in the league, beating them is certainly not going to be comfortable in the upcoming game as well.
Stephan Baard, Karl Birkenstock, JP Kotze, Gerhard Erasmus, CG Williams, JJ Smit, Zane Green, Jan Frylinck, Z Groenewald, Pikky Ya France, Bernard Scholtz.
New Guinea have so far played more number of matches than any other team in the league and are yet to taste success. Out of the seven games played, they have lost seven times and are placed at the bottom of the table with a net run-rate of -0.444.
They are coming into the upcoming match on the back of a heart-breaking win to the same team they are going to face in the upcoming contest, Namibia. Batting first on a reasonably good batting surface, none of their batsmen managed to stick around for long. With a 61-ball 44, Charles Amin was the top-scorer for them.
Their bowlers toiled hard to contain Namibia and keep them from chasing down the total of 220, but barring Nosaina Pokana, not of their bowlers posed any troubles for Namibia. Namibia eventually chased down the total with ten balls to spare and four wickets in hand.
Tony Ura, Simon Atai, Assad Vala, Lega Siaka, Charles Amin, Riley Hekure, Kiplin Doriga, Jason Kila, Hiri Hiri, Norman Vanua, Nosaina Pokana.

There are five teams in the ICC World Cup Cricket League 2, and four teams seem to be running away with the momentum. Papua New Guinea is the only team that is yet to win a match and would be desperate to do so in the upcoming fixture. For that, however, they'd need more contribution from their players other than Assad Vala and Charles Amin. Namibia, on the other hand, have done pretty well and have the momentum. With most of the players in fine form, they have a better-balanced side as compared to Papua New Guinea, and are, therefore, our pick to win the upcoming match on Monday.
