About the Match
With two consecutive wins to its name, Titans look well placed to cause some upsets in Group B. They now play Trinidad & Tobago in their 4th match on 30 Sep at Ahmedabad. The Titans have 8 points from 3 matches played whereas T&T has 4 points from 2 matches. Defeating Sunrisers by 8 wickets with more than 3 overs to spare, the Titans have established themselves as a strong team. T&T has had a mixed tournament so far, winning the match against Brisbane but losing it against Sunrisers by a narrow margin. This is a crucial match for both teams who are in the run for the semi-final spot.
After an emphatic win over Sunrisers, Titans are fired up to make it to the top. Captain Henry Davids has been in good form and once again put up a brilliant show chasing 146 runs against Sunrisers. Along with Jacques Rudolph’s unbeaten 49, Davids played a captain’s knock of 64 runs off 42 balls putting up a solid partnership of 113 runs. Earlier, it was fast-bowler Wiese’s crucial 3 wickets giving away just 17 runs that stumped the opponents and restricted them to 145 runs. The batsmen kept their cool and easily reached the target with help from Kuhn down the order. This team has played to its strengths so far and will continue to surprise the opposing teams with the various tricks they have up their sleeves.
Trinidad and Tobago:
The Caribbean team is coming after a break and would be fresh. It was a brilliant effort by the batsmen who put up a total of 160 runs against Sunrisers but were left unrewarded. Bravo’s 66 runs off 44 balls and good support by Lewis, Ramdin and the others kept the scoreboard ticking and at one stage it looked a comfortable total for the bowlers to defend. Narine was the leading wicket taker with a superb 4 wickets giving away just 9 runs and making life difficult for the Sunrisers. Stewart took the crucial wicket of Dhawan but lack of support from the other bowlers either with wickets or in restricting the run flow caused a disappointing loss for the team by just 4 runs. The bowling unit has to back themselves up and play with a much better attacking strategy. The batsmen need to be more focused and avoid losing early wickets. The team will look to play positive cricket and has everything to turn the tide in its favor.
Both teams are equally matched in all departments of the game and both are hungry to win this crucial match. Davids has been in top form and is inspired to take his team to the next stage of the tournament. T&T is not far behind and with the recent spell of Narine and contribution by Bravo with the bat; the team is backed up by some great individual performances. However, the Titans have pulled off some close contests in the series so far and I expect them to do so once again in this match.
