Northern Braves Women failed to even qualify for the knockouts last year and starting with a win would be pretty important for them to stay upbeat about their chances. Not only did they fail to qualify for the next round, they were able to win only one match in the entire tournament. They would know how critical a role a win early in the tournament can play and they would be desperate to get that. They have buffed up their side a bit and if they are able to play to their potential, getting past them could prove to be a rather difficult task.

Canterbury Women

Canterbury Kings did a slightly better job between the two teams but they too would be disappointed in the way their campaign ended last year. They were pretty close to a spot in the playoffs but a poor run in the moments that mattered the most saw them fall just short. They finished with four wins out of a total of ten matches played. They have a better side on-paper as compared to what it was the last time around and that should imbibe a lot of confidence. If they can play to their potential, getting past them could prove to be a rather challenging task.
