Nepal

Nepal hasn’t been in the best form this year. It lost a 2-match ODI series against Papua New Guinea earlier this year and finished second from the last in the Cricket World Cup League 2 tables. This series too hasn’t started on a good note for the hosts, as they lost the first match by 84 runs.

Wicketkeeper opener Aasif Sheikh and captain Rohit Paudel have been top performers with the bat for Nepal. Rohit Paudel is a veteran, who made his debut in 2018 in the U19 team, and it the top scorer for Nepal over the years. In 2022, he scored 506 runs from 15 innings, at an average of 42 runs. Aasif Sheikh just made his debut last year and has emerged to be a reliable batsman, scoring 337 runs in 11 innings.

Arjun Saud and Dipendra Singh scored gritty half-centuries the last match, but that went in vain. Nepal sorely missed the services of Sandeep Lamicchane. But Sompal Kami and Karan KC will be the two bowlers to watch out for in this game. 

United Arab Emirates

UAE lost a home series against Nepal in 2018-19 but is well on track to avenge that. The team played well in World Cup League 2 stage too, finishing 4th on the points table.

The top-order of the UAE batting lineup looks pretty strong, as Muhammed Waseem, Vriitya Aravind, and Rohan Mustafa are all in good touch. Rohan has 4 half-centuries against his name this year and has an aggregate of 399 runs in 14 innings so far. Vriitya Aravind made his debut just a couple of years back but has been one of the most consistent performers with the bat in the UAE side.

Mustafa also has a good off-break and can be troublesome on the turning pitches of the subcontinent. Afzal Khan bowled a superb spell of 4-14 in the first game, and will once again be the bowler to watch out for.
