The Nelson Mandela bay Giants are going to be opening their account in MSL 2019 against the defending champions, Jozi Stars, in what should be a very intriguing match. The Jozi Stars have already played one match and lost against the Cape Town Blitz.
The weather played spoilsport on the second day of the Mzansi Super League 2019 and we are afraid this is going to be recurring event throughout the tournament. As far as this match goes, though, the weather forecast seems to be good.
There are too many exciting players slated to take part in the match for the rain to interrupt once again!
Nelson Mandela Bay Giants vs Jozi Stars MSL 2019 is going to be played at St.George’s Park, Port Elizabeth on the 10th of November 2019.
This is the first match for the Nelson Mandela Giants is a tough one against the defending champions. They will have no room for errors and will need to hit the ground running. Thankfully, they have some very experienced T20 players in their side.
Jason Roy, JJ Smuts, Farhaan Behardien, Chris Morris, Ben Dunk, and Heino Kuhn are some of the players that should form a part of the batting unit against the Jozi Stars. We are looking forward to seeing what Jason Roy can do after a pretty long break from cricket.
He has been dropped from the England test side after a short stint as an opener and was rested for the T20 series against New Zealand as well. He has a tendency to start tournament’s well and will like playing on the hard South African surfaces as well.
Ben Dunk and Heino Kuhn are both good batsmen at the top of the order and are capable of getting the big hits away. JJ Smuts is perhaps the best South African domestic player in the entire MSL and will be leading the side as well.
Overall, this is a very strong batting lineup with some capable power hitters in the lower-order as well.
Imran Tahir, Beuran Hendricks, Chris Morris, and Junior Dala are going to be leading the bowling attack with some help from another all-rounder to fill in the remaining overs. This is going to be a tough bowling attack to face, although, Morris and Dala can go for a lot of runs when it is not their day.
Imran Tahir, though, is still the world’s best T20 spinner in our opinion and is going to be the main threat to the Jozi Stars.
Heino Kuhn, Matthew Breetzke, JJ Roy, Ben Dunk, JJT Smuts, Onke Nyaku, Chris Morris, Farhaan Behardien, Imran Tahir, Nandre Burger, Junior Dala.
The Jozi Stars began their campaign against a very strong batting side on a very flat pitch and had to chase down 214 to try and win. It is creditable to them that they seemed to have the chase in the bag till perhaps the last few overs and eventually fell just 15 runs short.
Runs for Chris Gayle, Reeza Hendricks, Temba Bavuma, Rassie van der Dussen, and Daniel Christian bode well for the Stars moving forward. Reeza Hendricks was the only player that went on to convert his start into a big score and fell on 80 from 53 deliveries.
This was the kind of form that brought him into the national side and he has started this edition of MSL T20 very well again.
The Jozi Stars have a very strong batting lineup that is capable of getting the better of any side on its day.
Their bowlers would be quite disappointed at the manner in which they bowled, though. Players like Kagiso Rabada, Duanne Olivier, Simon Harmer, Dane Paterson, and Daniel Christian have been around for long enough to adapt to any conditions thrown at them.
They were, however, unable to find their lengths under pressure and gave away too many loose deliveries.
We expect to see a much better performance from then in this match simply because bowlers of this caliber don’t keep repeating their mistakes.
Reeza Hendricks, Chris Gayle, Temba Bavuma, RVD Dussen, Ryan Rickelton, DT Christian, SR Harmer, Delano Potgieter, Kagiso Rabada, Dane Paterson, Aaron Phangiso.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to field first considering the potential of rain interrupting the match.

The weather forecast for Port Elizabeth is better than what we saw in Durban, however, there is still a 25% chance of rain predicted. The pitch at Port Elizabeth is fast, bouncy, and usually very good for batting in white-ball matches.
We think there is going to be something in it for the fast bowlers but the batsmen will be able to get full value for their shots as well.
These are two strong teams going at each other but we think the Jozi Stars have a slight edge over the Nelson Mandela Bay Giants in every aspect of the game. Their batting is just a bit better and the bowling seems to have more depth too.
Bet on the Jozi Stars to win.
