About the Match
After a scintillating start to the tournament, Yorkshire will now take on Northamptonshire on 11th July 2017 at County Ground, Northampton. Both the teams have had a similar fate so far in the tournament. Both have won one match in two games they've played so far in the competition and stand at fourth and sixth place separated only by Net Run Rate. Both the teams had a good '16 season and considering that, this match could well be called as the 'Clash of the Titans'.
Northamptonshire were the winners in 2016 edition of the comeptition, but could not carry their last year's form into the first game. They were thrashed by Derbyshire despite posting a mammoth 179 runs total.
Their bowlers did well in their game against Durham and batsmen chased down the target of 161 with considerable ease. Ben Duckett has been in superb form and has scored well in both the games. Steven Crook too has been excellent with the bat as far as scoring quick runs is concerned.
All in all, it hasn't been the batting were the Northapmtonshire's problem has been. It's their bowling which hasn't looked sharp enough. If their bowlers can find the rhythm and accuracy, it won't be surprising if we see the 2016-esqe results once again.
Unlike Northamptonshire, Yorshire started off the tournament on a high, but failed to command the same momentum and confidence in their second match.
While the batting unit worked well in their first match to propell their total of a colossal 227, their middle-order collapsed like a house of cards in the second match. They lost Tom Kohler-Cadmore for a duck, but David Willey and Adam Lyth steadied the ship and they looked well set to take the match. However, Shaun Marsh, Jack Leaning and Peter Handscomb could only contribute with the scores of 2, 4, and 15 respectively which eventually resulted in a three-runs loss.
Yorkshire has always been a strong outfit in T20 competition. With Adam Lyth in superb form and bowlers doing reasonably well, all Yorkshire needs more is better coordination and little things to go their way and if that happens, it will be a long day in the field for Northamptonshire.
Both the teams have had a plenty of instances common. They've both won only one game and lost one, with both the teams losing out to Derbyshire. No team would want to give anything away in this all-important encounter and we expect the contest to be enthralling. Ben Duckett is in superb form with runs in both the games and we expect him to guide Northants home in this important clash
