Leicestershire woes didn't seem to end as they lost another vital match in their previous clash, against Durham, by a massive margin of nine wickets. They are currently at the bottom of the North Group points table and desperately need a win to have a realistic chance to qualify for the playoffs. Nottinghamshire, on the other hand, did exceedingly well in their last match as both their batting and bowling oozed class which was apparent in their 27-run win over Derbyshire. The two sides are set to clash at Trent Bridge Cricket Ground, Nottingham on Saturday, 27th July. Nottinghamshire are already amongst the top-four teams in the North Group and will be looking to strengthen their position here. Considering that the Foxes are hungry for a win here, it is not going to be an easy match for them. A mouth-watering contest is undoubtedly on the cards.
After suffering a humiliating defeat in their first match, the way Nottinghamshire Outlaws have shown character and bounced back into the tournament has been commendable. They lost their first match to Worcestershire, and after their second game was abandoned due to incessant rains, they revived their campaign with a couple of back to back wins.
In their most recent encounter, Nottinghamshire ran past Derbyshire in a high-scoring encounter where they posted a total of 198-runs while batting first. Alex Hales and Ben Duckett scored important half-centuries to take them to a commanding total. Hales has been in splendid form from the day one of the competition, and with rest of their batting joining the party, they have a solid batting lineup.
Bowling-wise as well, they have plenty of options available, and their skipper has the luxury of picking and choosing the bowlers according to the surface. Harry Gurney's variations in pace proved to be of significant importance in the previous match as he not only kept a check on scoring rate, but also picked up five important wickets in the process to rock Derbyshire's campaign. With the likes of Carter, Imad Wasim and Jake Ball available as well, they have a well-rounded bowling attack which won't be easy to score against on any surface.
AD Hales, Joe Clarke, Ben Duckett, Tom Moores, DT Christian, SI Wasim, SR Patel, Luke Fletcher, Luke Wood, Jake Ball, Harry Gurney.
Leicestershire Foxes are currently languishing at the bottom of the table and have nothing but one point to show for their efforts. While the Foxes have a decent batting lineup on paper, they haven't been able to display that yet on the field.
Batting first against Durham, they managed to put a total of just 161-runs on the board which was chased down by Durham rather easily. They depend heavily upon Colin Ackermann, who although has looked in fine touch, has failed to score something of considerable stature.
Bowling-wise, they depend on Dieter Klein and Callum Parkinson who have picked up a couple of wickets each, but their bowling, on the whole, has been far from acceptable in the tournament so far.
Mark Cosgrove, Harry Swindells, Arron Lilley, Colin Ackermann, Lewis Hill, Harry Dearden, Aadil Ali, Dieter Klein, Callum Parkinson, Gavin Griffiths, WS Davis.
There's plenty of daylight between the two sides both on paper and performance so far in the tournament. Leicestershire have a fine side, but their performance in the tournament so far hasn't matched their capabilities on the field yet. Nottinghamshire, on the other hand, have been splendid since their first loss of the tournament. They have been better on all fronts in the tournament so far and go in as firm favorites to win the upcoming encounter.
