The T20 Blast 2019 group stages are over and it is time for the playoffs. This may be the very last T20 Blast playoffs ever considering that English cricket is going to be moving to the hundred next season so enjoy it while you can!
The second quarter-final is going to be played between Nottinghamshire and Middlesex, the teams that finished second in North Group and third in South Group respectively. There are some very exciting batsmen that are going to be playing this match and the venue is renowned for huge scores being achieved.
We could have a classic on our hands.
Nottinghamshire vs Middlesex 2nd quarter-final T20 Blast 2019 is going to be played at Trent Bridge, Nottingham on the 5th of September 2019.
Six wins from its twelve completed matches were enough to give Nottinghamshire the second place in the North group. The side was the winner of the T20 Blast just two seasons back and knows exactly what it needs to do in such situations.
Nottinghamshire has to bank on its batsmen to deliver. Joe Clark, Alex Hales, Ben Duckett, Tom Moores, and three very good all-rounders to follow give Nottinghamshire a very long batting lineup.
This is not a guarantee of success, though, as we saw in its last group match against Durham. The entire batting unit collapsed to leave Nottinghamshire with just 124 runs to its name. That is not something that the side wants to dwell too much over and would rather have its batsmen play freely.
Alex Hales and Ben Duckett are the batsmen that we are going to look at to deliver. They are the best, most experienced, and the batsmen with the most realistic short-term England aspirations. Performing in big matches like these can revive both of their stalled careers.
Nottinghamshire’s bowling is also going to be tested against a star-studded Middlesex batting. Imad Wasim will be aware of AB de Villier’s supposed weakness against left-arm spin and be keen to test it out.
Samit Patel, Dan Christian, Harry Gurney, and Matthew Carter all form a very good bowling unit. The talent in this side is most definitely there and it is all going to come down to the execution from here on in.
Chris Nash, AD Hales, Ben Duckett, Jake Libby, SR Patel, Tom Moores, DT Christian, SI Wasim, Luke Wood, Matthew Carter, Harry Gurney.
Middlesex chased down 227 in just 17 overs to make it into the T20 Blast 2019 quarter-finals and is going to be absolutely buzzing with confidence. If the Nottinghamshire batting is strong, Middlesex’s lineup is like a jacked-up wrestler on steroids!
Dawid Malan, Paul Stirling, AB de Villiers, Eoin Morgan, and George Scott are all very good strikers of the ball. Middlesex may not have the depth that Nottinghamshire does but it certainly has players capable of winning the match on their own.
AB de Villiers has been striking the ball very cleanly and we would be foolhardy to bet against him in this form. Eoin Morgan continued his brilliant summer of cricket by smashing eight sixes in his previous inning as well.
A few early wickets could rock Middlesex but achieving that is not going to be easy. While the spotlight is going to be on Ab de Villiers and Eoin Morgan, keep an eye out for Dawid Malan who is one of the most dangerous players in this format of the game as well.
Middlesex does not have the same kind of spinners in its side that Nottinghamshire does but its pace bowling battery is pretty solid. Steven Finn, Nathan Sowter, and Toby Roland-Jones will be leading this attack.
Middlesex is quite balanced and more importantly, in terrific form coming into this match.
Dawid Malan, PR Stirling, Stephen Eskinazi, AB de Villiers, Eoin Morgan, John Simpson, Toby Roland-Jones, Thomas Helm, Nathan Sowter, ST Finn, Mujeeb Ur Rahman.
The team that wins the toss is expected to field first. Defending a total can be very difficult at Trent Bridge and the team chasing has a big advantage.

Nottinghamshire vs Middlesex 2nd quarter-final T20 Blast 2019 is going to be played at Trent Bridge, Nottingham on the 5th of September 2019. The weather forecast for Nottingham is excellent on match day. The chance of rain is expected to be under 10% so we should be able to get a full game of cricket in.
The pitch at Trent Bridge is a graveyard for the bowlers. Plenty of big-hits and boundaries are on the menu. We think a total of 200 is going to be difficult to defend.

This is a close match but we think a slight risk can be taken by betting on the home side. Nottinghamshire is a formidable side that is less dependent on individual brilliance. It has players capable of withstanding the batting force of Middlesex or replying in the same vein as needed.
Bet on Nottinghamshire to win.
