NSW vs QSL Match Prediction - Oct 17, 2022

New South Wales did not have a very good start to its Sheffield Shield 2022-23 campaign. It lost its first match convincingly and now goes up against Queensland, a team that crushed Tasmania in its opening fixture.

The cricket betting sites are favoring Queensland to win this match but the odds are not as short as you might have expected. Let us take a closer look.

NSW vs QSL Team Previews

New South Wales

New South Wales did not put up much of a fight against Western Australia in its opening match. Kurtis Patterson made 72 in the first inning and Baxter Holt made 54 in the second but no one else really scored significant runs. That is not a way that you win first-class five-day matches.

Moises Henriques, Jason Sangha, and Daniel Hughes are all in the lineup. On paper, the batting lineup for NSW is quite decent but the performances have not refelcted that.

Ben Dwarshius bowled well to pick up four wickets and was well supported by Edwards and Tremain. The lack of wickets for Nathan Lyon would be a concern for NSW.

New South Wales Playing 11

Baxter J Holt, Ben Dwarshuis, Blake Nikitaras, Chris Tremain, Daniel Hughes, Jason Sangha, Kurtis Patterson, M Gilkes, Moises Henriques, Nathan Michael Lyon, Sean Abbott.

Queensland

Queensland comes into this contest with most of its leading batters in tremendous form. Marnus Labuschagne scored a century, Joe Burns made 85, and Jimmy Pierson got into three figures as well. With Matt Renshaw and Usman Khawaja also in the lineup, there is little doubt that Queensland has the superior batting unit.

The bowling is pretty stacked as well. Michael Neser (also very handy with the bat), Gurinder Sandhu, Mark Staketee, and James Bazley are all coming into this match with wicketsin the previous match.

We give a lot of importance to form and it looks like Queensland has a fair bit of momentum going into this contest.

NSW vs QSL Toss Prediction

The team that wins the toss will want to bat first. That should be seen as having a big advantage.

Pitch and Conditions

The conditions in Sydney are a bit overcast and there is some rain around. We could have a fair bit of time lost from the match. The pitch will be flat and then offer some help to the spinners as the match progresses.

NSW vs QSL Betting Tips

We are backing Queensland to win this match. It has a much stronger batting lineup and the bowling unit is also very good. There is no reason why Queensland cannot make it two wins out of two to start the Sheffield Shield 2022-23 season!

Bet on Queensland to win.
