The Marsh ODI Cup 2021 season is drawing to an end and every team has just one group match remaining. This next match between Queensland and New South Wales could very well be a preview of the ultimate title contest that we get to see in the Final although both Tasmania and Western Australia would have something to say about that.
Both Queensland and New South Wales are unbeaten in the tournament so far and will hope to lock up a place in the Finals. As things stand right now, a win for Queensland will keep the hopes alive of Western Australia and Tasmania but if New South Wales wins then only Western Australia has a very slim chance of making it to the Final.
New South Wales vs Queensland Marsh ODI Cup 2021 is going to be played at the North Sydney Oval, Sydney on the 31st of March 2021.
David Warner has made an immediate impact ever since he joined New South Wales. He made 108 in the previous match and led his team to victory against Tasmania. If he and possibly Steve Smith are available for this next match then the New South Wales batting is going to be very strong.
Matthew Gilkes, Moises Henriques, Kurtis Patterson, Oliver Davies, and Nick Larkin add a lot of depth to the lineup. One of these players will have to miss out if Steve Smith returns but that is a problem that New South Wales would not mind having.
The bowling attack is absolutely world-class led by Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon. There is no doubt about the kind of damage that they can cause but it was actually ben Dwarshius who picked up the most wickets in the previous match.
Add Sean Abbott and Liam Hatcher to the attack and there are no real weaknesses. Maybe Liam Hatcher is the only bowler that can be targeted by the opposition.
David Warner, Daniel Hughes, Steven Smith, Moises Henriques, Kurtis Patterson, M Gilkes, Daniel Sams, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Michael Lyon, JR Hazlewood.
If there is any team that can match NSW in batting strength then it is Queensland. Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Matthew Renshaw, Joe Burns, and Jack Wildermuth are all fantastic batsmen.
Even more importantly, most of the batsmen have been in good form. This means that Queensland is going to be able to come at the NSW bowling hard and hope to put them off their lengths.
In fact, if you take David Warner out of the equation, Queensland may actually have the better batting lineup. This is the same lineup that scored over 320 runs in the previous match and while they are going to have a tougher time against the strong NSW bowling lineup, they can still get to a match-winning total.
Michael Neser and Billy Stanlake lead the bowling attack with Xavier Bartlett and Matthew Kuhnemann for support. This bowling attack does not have the same kind of quality that NSW does but that is not to say this bowling attack is weak.
A couple of early wickets is all that is going to take for this Queensland team to really get into the NSW batting lineup.
Usman Khawaja, Max Bryant, Marnus Labuschagne, Matt Renshaw, Joe Burns, Jimmy Peirson, James Bazley, Michael Neser, Xavier Bartlett, Matt Kuhnemann, Billy Stanlake.
The team that wins the toss is likely to want to bat first. 50 over cricket is generally one where setting a good target adds a lot of pressure on the opposition. We think the team that bats first will have a decent advantage.

There are some clouds around in Sydney and we could have some rain but the forecast is not too bad everything considered. The pitch is expected to be good for batting but a bit on the slower side. The spinners will definitely have a role to play.
We think a score of around 280-300 is definitely on the cards batting first.
We think Queensland is the team to back in this match because the availability of Steve Smith is a bit doubtful. Both teams have a strong batting lineup and a fantastic bowling attack. The margins are going to be thin and there are little things that decide the outcome.
In such a situation, we like to go with the form team and that is in better form, and that is where Queensland has an advantage.
Bet on Queensland to win.
