NSW vs WAC Match Prediction - Nov 21, 2022

The defending champion Western Australia will be looking to further consolidate its position at the top of the points table when it takes in New South Wales for its 5th match in the ongoing season of the Sheffield Shield.

Western Australia is the firm favorite to win this match and given how good their form is, the odds on offer on most betting sites are pretty short. However, the punters can make the most out of this match by placing a few side bets.

NSW vs WAC Team Previews

New South Wales

New South Wales is the most successful team in the history of Sheffield Shield and has lifted the trophy 47 times. Its last season was a bit disappointing as they finished 4th on the points table. However, they have been even more underwhelming in the current season, failing to win even a single match so far.

It lost the opening game against this very opposition and has played 3 consecutive draws since then. As a result, NSW is second-last on the points table, sitting 1 point above South Australia.

Except for captain Kurtis Patterson, none of the batsmen have been able to play consistently. Patterson is the top-scorer for his team, scoring 269 runs at an average of close to 54. All-rounders Moises Henriques and Sean Abbott have been a bit disappointing so far. Blake Nikitaras has failed to get going at the top of the order.

In the bowling department, Ben Dwarshuis has enjoyed limited success, and barring him, the bowling hasn’t been up to the mark.

Western Australia

Western Australia looks well on track to defend their title as they are the only undefeated team this season. With 3 wins in 4 matches, Western Australia is at the top spot on the points table leading Queensland by 6 points.

The top order has been in excellent form for Western Australia with Whiteman, Cartwright, and Bancroft playing exceedingly well. The middle order is a bit of a concern for the team, as players like Aaron Hardie and Josh Philippe have got some starts but have failed to convert them into big scores. However, their shortcomings have been compensated by the excellent batting of the top order. Lance Morris has been great throughout the season and has scalped 23 wickets so far.

Matthew Kelly joined the squad quite late but looked quite promising in the 2 matches he has played so far. Hardie and Rocchiccioli have bowled well in patches.

NSW vs WAC Toss Prediction

The team batting first enjoys a better success ratio at the SCG. Therefore, the winner of the toss is likely to bat first here.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch is good for batting, albeit it is not as bouncy as the one in Gabba. However, the batsmen will be able to easily go through with their shots in the first couple of days. Post that, the spinners will get a good amount of turn, making this an exciting contest between the bat and the ball. The average first innings score here is around 300, and anything above 200 will be difficult to chase in the 4th innings. The weather is likely to remain overcast throughout next week, with temperatures hovering around the 20-degree mark.

NSW vs WAC Betting Tips

We think that Western Australia should win this match easily. The top-order is in excellent form and will have no problems in facing the NSW bowlers on a good batting surface like the SCG.

Bet on a Western Australia win.
