CSA Provincial One Day Challenge has started off on a pretty promising note with almost all title contenders doing well. In particular, Division 1 has been pretty competitive with only Western Province running away with the initiative. The rest of the teams are breathing right below their neck and the second half of the tournament is going to be pretty exciting.
Up next in the tournament, we have North West Dragons set to take on Dolphins in what is going to be an important match for both these sides but for different reasons. Dolphins are still languishing in the bottom half of the points table and would be desperate to rise up the ladder. North West, on the other hand, are in a pretty good spot to occupy the top of the table spot and will be eying that in this match.

North West Dragons
North West Dragons were never expected to do as well as they have but now that they have gotten off to a terrific start, they would want to make it could. Not only have they won most of their matches, they have looked fairly confident in all of the matches they have won. Having said that, in the match that they lost, to Western Province, they looked completely out of sorts.
Much to their concerns, it was the most recent match that the Northwest Dragons played and will be desperate to bounce back to winning ways. They are still sitting pretty comfortably at the second spot on the points table but a loss here can very quickly push them downwards. They do have a decent net run-rate of -0.533, which provides them a cushion if in case things go wrong.
It has been their bowling that has done most of the hard-work and it was evident in the last match too, but the total of 172 proved to be too low to defend. While they lack experience, be it with the bat or with the ball, the presence of versatile and talented players has worked wonders for them thus far. They would need to get back to playing to their potential and if they can do that here, getting past them could prove to be a rather difficult task.

Dolphins
Dolphins are one of the most followed teams in South Africa’s domestic circuit but they have certainly disappointed their fans with the performance they have put in thus far. From a total of two matches played, they have won just one. One good thing for them is they have not lost any of those matches by a big margin, which is a consolation they can take after ending up on the second position, in one of the matches they played.
As it currently stands on the points table, the Dolphins are placed at the fifth spot and another loss here might well end up pushing them further down the ladder. A win here, however, will certainly push them higher up and that is exactly what they will be aiming for.
This is the first time in the tournament that they will be meeting North West and will be eyeing to take the opportunity and move up on the ladder. They failed to chase a modest total against Western Province in their most recent match and will be kicking themselves. While the Dolphins have done well up until now, they have just lacked the final push to get over the line. They would need to crack the code to perform in high pressure situations and if they can do that here, they will be the team to watch out for, not just in this match but also in the matches to follow.

This is an important match for both sides, but for contrasting reasons. While Dolphins will be striving to stay in the reckoning, the Dragons would be eying that top of the table spot. While North West Dragons have done a better job up until now, Dolphins certainly have a better side between the two, at least on paper. Although they were defeated by the Dragons in the earlier meeting between the two, we believe they would be better prepared this time around. Considering that and the other factors stated above and the risk-reward ratio, we would be placing our bets on a Warrior win and so should you.
