NZ vs BAN Match Prediction - Oct 12, 2022

New Zealand has now won its previous two matches and seems to be gathering momentum ahead of the T20 World Cup. It has one more group match left against Bangladesh after which it will play the final of the Tri-Series. Bangladesh has lost both its matches and frankly, looked a level below the other two teams.

Can it pull off something special in this match?

Match prediction and cricket betting tips for New Zealand vs Bangladesh Tri-Series 2022. The match will be played at the Hagley Oval, Christchurch on the 12th of October 2022.

NZ vs BAN Team Previews

New Zealand

New Zealand played brilliantly to get past Pakistan in their previous match. A stunning bowling performance where the spinners did the most damage allows New Zealand to chase a small total. Finn Allen then showed why he is being preferred over Martin Guptill to start out with. It was a complete performance from New Zealand and if the team plays anything like that against Bangladesh, it will register another easy win.

As a bettor, though, you must be aware of the risks. The biggest one here is that New Zealand changes its lineup dramatically to give its other players a run. We think the depth in the squad is sufficient enough to still allow New Zealand to win but the contest could be a lot closer.

New Zealand's batting is more powerful, it's bowling more skillful, and its fielding adds at least ten runs to its total!

New Zealand Playing 11

Devon Conway, Finn Allen, Martin Guptill, Glenn Phillips, Mark Chapman, James Neesham, Michael Bracewell, Ish Sodhi, Adam Milne, TG Southee, Trent Boult.

Bangladesh

Bangladesh will be a bit nervous about the upcoming T20 World Cup. Its build-up has been anything but ideal and it continues to look like a side out of touch with current T20 standards. We think it is a relief for Bangladesh fans that they do not have to play in the qualifiers otherwise they would be seriously concerned.

Bangladesh's batting lacks power, which is well established, but it has also failed to play smart cricket. The batters have not used the vast spaces to pick twos and played too many dot balls. The bounce in the pitch has made its batters uncomfortable and the large boundaries at the Hagley Oval have left the players searching for answers.

While it is not impossible, we just do not see Bangladesh being able to get the runs needed to win right now.

The bowling effort from Bangladesh has been a bit better. The fast bowlers, particularly Taskin Ahmed, have asked some tough questions and there are a number of decent spinners that can tie up the batters. If the conditions are a bit on the slower side, Bangladesh could put up more of a fight.

Bangladesh Playing 11

NZ vs BAN Toss Prediction

The team that wins the toss should field first. That has been a clear advantage in this series. New Zealand, though, may want to test itself a bit and bat first if given the opportunity.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch was noticeably slower and rougher in the previous match. There has been cricket played on the square almost every day and so it is natural that the surface will become a bit more worn out. Spin and slower bowlers could continue to play more of a role which is good news for Bangladesh.

A score of around 160-170 should be seen as par.

NZ vs BAN Betting Tips

There is not much value in backing New Zealand for this match but the fact remains that it is the better team. Bangladesh has never defeated New Zealand in a white ball match while playing in New Zealand. We are not going to bet on it to start now.

Bet on New Zealand to win.
