New Zealand was tested by Bangladesh in the second ODI match but it was still not enough to get the visitors their first ODI win against New Zealand in New Zealand. It has now been 15 matches that Bangladesh has played and lost in the country. There is just one more match remaining in the series and while it may be termed as a match with nothing at stake, Bangladesh is definitely going to want to try and get this monkey off of its back.
New Zealand vs Bangladesh 3rd ODI 2021 is going to be played at the Basin Reserve, Wellington on the 26th of March 2021.
New Zealand’s bowlers came in for some punishment in their match against Bangladesh. Not only were they not able to pick up too many early wickets but they also gave a lot of boundary balls towards the end.
As a result, they conceded 271, a below-par total but still one that required a couple of their batsmen to score big.
The batting effort would have pleased New Zealand as Devon Conway and Tom Latham helped their team recover from a tricky situation to eventually win the match with ease.
There is a lot of depth in this New Zealand side and even without Kane Williamson or Ross Taylor, the batting looks to be absolutely rock-solid. We think a big score for Martin Guptill would be the only thing on the New Zealand wishlist that is unfulfilled right now.
The bowling can take a beating on the flat tracks that New Zealand seems to dish up and so we don’t think they would be too concerned about a couple of poor performances. There is still too much quality in this lineup for Bangladesh on most days.
Martin Guptill, Devon Conway, Henry Nicholls, Ross Taylor, TWM Latham, James Neesham, Daryl Mitchell, Mitchell Santner, Kyle Jamieson, Matt Henry, Trent Boult.
For a few moments, it looked like Bangladesh would be able to challenge New Zealand and may register its first ODI victory against the home team in New Zealand, however that did not happen. To be honest, Bangladesh was a bit too conservative with its batting approach on a pitch where 300 was the minimum that they should have been aiming for.
Mohammad Mithun showed with an aggressive 73 from 57 deliveries that scoring runs was not very difficult.
Hopefully, Tamim Iqbal, Liton Das, and Soumya Sarkar can give the team a better start in this last ODI. With Mushfiqur, Mahmudullah, and Mithun in the lower-order, Bangladesh certainly has the batting depth to put up a good total. A bit of confidence and some intent at the top is all that is needed.
Bangladesh’s bowling continued to be its downfall and we fail to see how that is going to change in this next match either. Mahedi Hasan was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets in one over and Mehidy Hasan also bowled well. The fast bowlers, though, were ineffective and seemed to lack the tools to get regular breakthroughs.
Bangladesh’s strength is spin and basically suffocating the batsmen on difficult to score wickets but that is not easy to do in New Zealand. Another tough outing for their bowlers seems to be in store.
Tamim Iqbal, Liton Das, Soumya Sarkar, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mohammad Mithun, Mahmudullah, Mahedi Hasan, Mehidy Hasan, Rubel Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman.
The team that wins the toss is likely to want to bowl first. Both of the matches have been won by the chasing team and that may be the way to go in the third ODI as well.

The Basin Reserve is an excellent place to play cricket. The wicket is going to be absolutely flat and the outfield is pretty fast. The size of the ground is actually pretty decent and so the bowlers have a chance in the match as well. We expect some swing with the new ball after which the batsmen should be able to make merry.
A score of around 300 has to be par for this surface once more.

We think it is obvious that New Zealand is the favorite going into this match. It has shown that it is very difficult to beat even without a couple of its main players. The only question to be answered is whether Bangladesh can finally end its horror run in New Zealand? We don’t think so as its bowling is always going to give New Zealand a great chance to win from whatever position they are in.
