NZ vs PAK Match Prediction - Oct 11, 2022

New Zealand lost its previous match to Pakistan but managed to win its next one against Bangladesh. Pakistan has two wins from the two matches it has played so far and would be looking to add another win to its name to ensure a place in the Final.

This series is as much about winning as it is about getting the players in prime form for the T20 World Cup.

NZ vs PAK Team Previews

New Zealand

New Zealand did not bat well in the first match against Pakistan. It's batsmen lacked the aggressive intent that is so crucial to the success of teams these days. The second match was a bit better as Devon Conway got some runs but Kane Williamson once again struggled in the middle.

Whether this is the approach that New Zealand has decided on that Williamson will bat through and all the opthers will attack around him or whether this is a case of a batsman struggling on his return to injury remains to be seen.

Glenn Phillips looked to be in excellent touch and there is a fair bit of hitting power down the order as well.

New Zealand's batting will be tested a lot more against the Pakistan attack that is leaps and bounds ahead of the Bangladeshi attack. Adam Milne and Tim Southee played the match against Bangladesh but this lineup is expected to change again for the match against Pakistan.

Lockie Ferguson has not played a match so far and could be unleashed for the first time this series. Mitch Santner returning to the lineup will also add a lot of quality to the bowling attack.

New Zealand Playing 11

Devon Conway, Finn Allen, KS Williamson, Glenn Phillips, Mark Chapman, James Neesham, Michael Bracewell, Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi, TG Southee, Blair Tickner.

Pakistan

Pakistan's appraoch to T20 cricket is quite set. It banks on the fact that one of its two openers will score big and allow the rest of the batting to make important cameos. With Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan in great form, this approach is working.

The middle-order is also being shuffled around as Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz will be used to make impactful performances in the middle. There is no doubt that Pakistan is trying to play more aggressively and that its openers are the best in the world.

The real test will come when Pakistan loses a couple of early wickets.

Pakistan's bowling lineup is excellent. Mohammad Wasim Jr, Haris Rauf, and Shahnawz Dahani have played so far but this bowling lineup can be changed up a bit as well. Shaheen Afridi is close to being fit but Pakistan may not want to risk him before the T20 World Cup.

Shadab Khan, Mohammad Nawaz, and Iftikhar Ahmed are all good spin-bowling options for Pakistan.

NZ vs PAK Toss Prediction

The team that wins the toss could opt to field first. The pitch does not change much during the match and so neither option is a bad one.

Pitch and Conditions

There is no rain forecast for the match. The pitch is fast and bouncy while the big boundaries are helpful for the spinners as well. Hitting sixes is not easy and we have seen scores of aroudn 160-170 be quite difficult to chase.

There have been six and seven sixes hit in the previous two matches. The large outfield makes hitting sixes a lot more difficult. Getting to 11 sixes is not going to be easy.
