New Zealand won the first T20 match of the series against Pakistan comprehensively. A brilliant bowling performance from Jacob Duffy on debut was the catalyst for the win and he is certainly going to be someone to look out for.
Pakistan can take a few positives from this match as well. They managed to make a fist of things even after a horrendous start. A little bit of planning could help them turn things around.
New Zealand will welcome back some of its bigger players into the squad from this match as well.
New Zealand vs Pakistan 2nd T20 2020 is going to be played at Seddon Park, Hamilton on the 20th of December 2020.
New Zealand has announced the changes to its squad even before the series had started and so it is a shame that Jacob Duffy is not going to be a part of the lineup anymore. New Zealand is going back to its strongest squad with the return of Trent Boult and Kane Williamson into the squad.
This means that the New Zealand team that lines up against Pakistan is going to be significantly stronger.
We think Williamson is likely to slot in at number four with Glenn Phillips shifting one spot down to number five. Jimmy Neesham and Mitchell Santners are the two all-rounders at six and seven with Scott Kuggeleijn, Ish Sodhi, Trent Boult, and Kyle Jamieson to lead the attack.
This is perhaps the strongest that New Zealand can be in the shortest format and that is a concern for Pakistan. If anything, the Kiwis now have more batting firepower and more experience in the bowling attack.
The T20 World Cup 2021 is on the minds of everyone and we dont think new Zealand is going to miss this opportunity to press down their throats on the Pakistanis.
Martin Guptill, Tim Seifert, KS Williamson, Devon Conway, GD Phillips, James Neesham, Kyle Jamieson, Scott Kuggeleijn, TG Southee, Trent Boult, Ish Sodhi.
The T20 tactics followed by Pakistan have been bizarre to say the least. The continue to pick batsmen that do not have a regular place in the Pakistan Super League as their openers. To have Mohammad Rizwan open the batting is a joke.
They could push up Haider Ali and allow him to play freely which could net more benefit to them.
As things stand, the Pakistani batting looks very weak without Babar Azam in it.
Shadab Khan may have batted well at number five but that is one or even two position too high for him. Pakistan is currently playing with one batsman of repute, Mohammad Hafeez, and a few decent all-rounders.
Any runs that the batsmen get at this stage have to be looked as a bonus!
The bowling is not a problem, though. Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf are world-class and they will give you eight overs of hostile aggressive bowling. Imad Wasim and Shadab Khan did not bowl their quota of overs, which was a bit strange to see, but maybe that will change in Hamilton.
Wahab Riaz had a poor game and it remais to be seen if he is persisted with. We hope he gets another go because he is one of the most exciting bowlers to watch when he is on song.
Pakistan’s bowling will always keep it in the game against New Zealand but the batting is a huge letdown.
Mohammad Rizwan, Haider Ali, Abdullah Shafique, Mohammad Hafeez, Shadab Khan, Khushdil Shah, SI Wasim, Faheem Ashraf, Wahab Riaz, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to field first. Conditions in New Zealand are very batsmen friendly for the limited-over matches and so defending a total is a tough job.

Hamilton will offer lesser bounce than Eden Park and so that is something that the Pakistanis may enjoy more. However, the conditions are still going to be batsmen friendly with a bit more pace in the surface than the visitors are used to.
The outfield is also larger in this game and so the spinners should play more of a role.
Scores of around 180 are going to be par batting first.
We think New Zealand was a stronger side to start off with and only became better wirth the return of its senior players. New Zealand has more depth in its batting, more power, and is better suited to the conditions. Pakistan’s bowling is an ‘x’ factor to consider but we don’t think it is enough to help it won matches on its own too many times.
Bet on New Zealand to win.

Total Match Maidens - Over 0.5 ($3.75) (Betway)
Getting a maiden away is rare but not unheard of, particularly in conditions where the ball can swing a bit. Looking at the kind of bowlers that both teams have, we are willing to take the risk that one of them will have a great game and get us this big win.
Just one maiden over in the entire match from any bowler in any team is enough to win you this bet. Take it!
