The England Women’s team has won the T20 series by winning the second match and has completed an entirely successful tour of New Zealand. The last match is all that remains and it remains to be seen whether England can win 3-0 or if New Zealand can get one consolation win to its name.
That was exactly what happened in the ODI series where England won the first two matches and then New Zealand won the dead rubber. Can we bet on the same thing happening again this time around?
Let us try and see.
New Zealand vs England 3rd T20 is going to be played at the Westpac Stadium, Wellington on the 7th of March 2021.
New Zealand’s batting has not been very good in the series so far and that is unlikely to change in just a few days. The batters have struggled to find consistency and a way to be able to score against the Eglish bowlers.
Senior batters like Sophie Devine, Amelia Kerr, and Katey Martin have all been quite underwhelming. Amy Satterthwaite played one match-winning inning but apart from that, she has also been struggling for runs.
There is undoubted class and talent in the lineup but we just do not have the confidence in this batting unit right now.
The bowling has not been too bad but it has usually not had enough runs to work with. Jess Kerr, Leigh Kasperek, Sophie Devine, Amelia Kerr, and Hayley Jensen form a very strong bowling attack on paper.
There is experience, skill, and proven ability in this bowling attack. It could give the English batters a harder time if it had more runs to defend on a few occasions.
Katey Martin, Amy Satterthwaite, Maddy Green, Kate Ebrahim, Sophie Devine, Amelia Kerr, Hayley Jensen, Brooke Halliday, Leigh Kasperek, Rosemary Mair, Jess Kerr.
England’s Tammy Beaumont has just become the number one ranked batter in the world and is in terrific form. She top-scored with 63 in the previous game as well and avoided any hiccups in a small-ish chase.
Daniele Wyatt and Natalie Sciver both lost their wickets early before Heather Knight played a nice inning of 39 to take the team on the doorsteps of victory.
England’s batting lineup is definitely stronger than New Zealand’s at the moment. It has so much depth that even if one or two players fail, someone is there to almost always pick up the slack.
The bowling attack is experimenting with a few new players who seem to be taking to international cricket quite well. Freya Davies took four wickets in the previous match, Sarah Glen took two, and the rest were very effective as well.
England’s bowling has been on the money on this tour and has managed to keep a check on the New Zealand batters in almost every single match.
Amy Ellen Jones, Tammy Beaumont, Danielle Wyatt, Fran Wilson, Sophia Dunkley Brown, Natalie Sciver, Sophie Ecclestone, Katherine Brunt, Sarah Glenn, Freya Davies, Mady Villiers.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat second for sure. Every match on this tour has been won by the side chasing and so it can be seen as a big advantage to have.

There are a few spells of rain predicted on match day but that will hopefully not affect the cricket. The pitch has been pretty good for batting and we don’t think the low scores have anything to do with the surface. The ball comes on nicely and there are plenty of scoring opportunities to be had.
A score of around 140-150 is the least that teams batting first will be aiming for.
We are backing England to make a clean sweep of this series. They have been consistently better than New Zealand in every aspect of the game. Their batting has been better, it has more depth, and the players are in better form. The bowling of the two sides is pretty even but here too we have seen England have more impact.
