The Oman T20 Series is gathering a lot of attention with the T20 World Cup Qualifiers just around the corner. The teams participating in this match are finalizing their squads and getting some much-needed match practice ahead of the big event.
Oman has already managed a big upset in this tournament with a win against Ireland while the Netherland has lost both its matches, including one to Nepal.
In home conditions, Oman is proving to be a tough opponent and so the Netherlands will have to be at its best going into this match.
Oman vs Netherlands Oman T20 Series is going to be played at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground Oman Cricket (Ministry Turf 1), Al Amarat, Oman on the 9th of October 2019.
Oman has won both its matches in the tournament so far and has looked a pretty decent outfit. While none of its batsmen have gone on to play a massive inning, the entire batting unit seems to perform together and get it over the line.
Not a single batsmen for Oman made over 50 runs individually in the match against Ireland but the side still got to a total of 173. Jatinder Singh, Zeeshan Maqsood, Aamir Kaleem, and Khawar Ali have all shown enough batting ability to be taken seriously.
Oman is a higher-ranked T20 side than the Netherlands and will certainly be fancying this contest on home conditions.
Bilal Khan, Mohammad Nadeem, Aamir Kaleem, and Khawar Ali were the bowlers that were in the wickets against Ireland. They benefitted from having a good total on the board which forced the Irish batsmen to come hard at them. With the Netherlands missing its best batsman, Oman will be targeting another good bowling performance for sure.
Suraj Kumar, Naseem Khushi, Khurram Nawaz, Mehran Khan, Zeeshan Maqsood, Aaqib Sulehri, Khawar Ali, Bilal Khan, Aamir Kaleem, Mohammad Nadeem, Fayyaz Butt.
The Netherlands batting lineup wasted a good start against Nepal and that ended up costing them the entire game. At 97 for 2 in the 13th over, Netherlands would have been targeting 150 to 160 but they were unable to handle the spinners in the overs that followed.
Not having Ben Cooper in the middle order is certainly a big loss for the Netherlands but they cannot be dependent on just one or two players. Max o Dowd, Antonius Staal, and Colin Ackerman all got starts but no one went to convert them into a big score.
Pieter Seelar, Roelof van der Merwe, and Scott Edwards are also short of runs in the lower-middle order.
Oman does not have as good an attack as Nepal but the Netherlands batsmen are still going to be tested.
Fred Klaasen, Paul van Meekeren, and Roelof van der Merwe had all bowled well against Nepal. It seemed like the Netherlands would end up defending its small total but the last two overs of the inning proved to be too expensive.
Shane Snater was not able to defend 17 runs in his last over and that is something that would have disappointed him. He and the Netherlands need to work on the death bowling aspect of their game.
The Netherlands may be ranked 18th compared to the 17th for Oman but the quality of opposition that the Netherlands faces has been better. This is also one of the rare occasions where all of the Netherlands players are available to play free from their county championship commitments.
Pieter Seelaar, Scott Edwards, Brandon Glover, RE Van Der Merwe, Colin Ackermann, Shane Snater, Max O'Dowd, Antonius Staal, Tobias Visee, Fred Klaassen, Paul Van Meekeren.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to field first. Four out of the six matches so far have been won by the side batting second.

Oman is not going to throw up any surprises when it comes to the weather. It is going to continue being hot and dry for the duration of this tournament. The pitch is also very predictable in its nature. The batsmen can take advantage of the flat deck but will not have much pace to work with. The spinners can be tough to score against.
We think that the Netherlands is going to be able to get the better of Oman in this match, although, the match is not likely to be one-sided.
Bet on the Netherlands to win.
