Two teams that are right next to each other in the Super Smash league table are going to be taking on each other. The Otago Volts and the Central Districts have both won two matches so far but the Volta have played one match lesser and thus, are in a better position.
There is still a fair way to go in the tournament but this is one of the more meaningful matches that will witness at this stage in the Super Smash.
Otago Volts vs Central Districts Super Smash 2020-21 is going to be played at the University Oval, Dunedin on the 8th of January 2021.
The Otago Volts have a good bowling attack to take on the Central Districts. They have Jacob Duffy, who made an immediate impact against Pakistan on his debut, they have Micthell McClenaghan, one of the T20 journeymen that have made a real name for themselves, and they back these up with some good domestic talent.
Anaru Kitchen, Michael Rippon, and Matthew Bacon are all decent bowlers and can be counted upon to do their job well on most days.
This is the strength of the Volts. They will try to suffocate their opponents and keep them short of a fighting total.
The batting is not too bad but it is a bit dependent on Hamish Rutherford and Neil Broom. Llew Johnson has played a good inning in the tournament already but the middle-order looks a bit wobbly.
The Otago Volts need their bowlers to continue to cover up for some of the weaknesses of their batting.
Mitchell Renwick, Hamish Rutherford, Nick Kelly, NT Broom, Llew Johnson, MJ Rippon, Anaru Kitchen, MJ Mcclenaghan, Michael Rae, Jacob Duffy, Matthew Bacon.
The Central Districts lost their previous match after a bit of a batting collapse that saw them make just 117. The fact that it took the Northern Knights nearly 18 overs to chase it down shows that there was something in the pitch.
The batting form of George Worker has been very good, and he is going to be the most important wicket in this match as well. Leopard, Cleaver, and Bracewell form a pretty decent middle order but the fact remains that the Central Districts have not got the runs needed in their last few matches.
A couple of their players need to find form very quickly and get back to scoring runs as they were at the start of the tournament.
The bowling attack for the Central Districts is also very good, just like the Otago Volts, They have Doug Bracewell, Blair Tickner, Ajaz Patel, and Kieran Noema-Barnett.
The balance of the Central Districts is pretty decent and we think it should get back to winning ways pretty soon.
Dane Cleaver, Bayley Wiggins, Will Young, Christian Leopard, George Worker, Doug Bracewell, Josh Clarkson, Blair Tickner, Ajaz Patel, Joey Field, KN Barnett.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first. The University Oval is a high-scoring ground where the pitch should not change much. Both the teams in this match are better bowling sides and would back themselves to defend a total.

There is some rain expected on match day and we could in for some interruptions. As far as the pitch goes, there should be a great batting surface on offer with very little help for the bowlers. The small boundaries at the University Oval are perfect for high-scoring matches.
A score of around 180 should be seen as the bare minimum that teams are going to aim for batting first.
We think the Central Districts Stags are going to win this match. They have a good batting lineup that is a bit out of form but could hit back very soon. In terms of the bowling, the Central Districts have a lineup that is as good as the Otago Volts and maybe even a bit better.
Bet on the Central Districts to win.
