PAK vs AFG Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Jun 29, 2019

The ICC World Cup 2019 has come to life and the race for the semi-final is turning out to be very close. All the people that were saying that the last two weeks of the cricket world cup are going to be filled with non-consequential matches have been proved wrong.
One of the teams that are firmly in the race now is Pakistan. The clichéd unpredictable tag is once again applicable to them as they continue to win against all odds. They now play against Afghanistan as they must continue to win and then hope that some other results go their way.
Afghanistan is still looking for a win in the ICC World Cup 2019. Seven losses from seven matches have showcased the work it still has to do in the 50 over format. Afghanistan’s performances in the last two matches have been better and they nearly beat India as well.
The Afghan players are quite familiar with the Pakistani ones since quite a few play with them in T20 leagues around the world. Can Afghanistan pull off an upset in this match and Pakistan’s hopes or will the Pakistani momentum prove to be too much for Afghanistan?
Pakistan vs Afghanistan ICC World Cup 2019 is going to be played at Headingley, Leeds, on the 29th of June 2019.
PAK vs AFG Team Previews
Pakistan
Social media has been taken over by the similarities in the Pakistani 1992 World Cup campaign and the 2019 World Cup. It seems like the team truly believes it can make the semi-finals and even though its destiny is not in its own hands, Pakistan must do what it can to help make the dream come true.
After beating South Africa and New Zealand quite comfortably, beating Afghanistan should not be a problem.
However, this is exactly where a team like Pakistan is vulnerable. It seems to play at its best when there are next to no expectations. The pressures of expectations weigh it down but the goal of making a semi-final should help it stay focused.
A few changes to the Pakistani team have helped it turn its fortunes around. The inclusion of Haris Sohail has added a lot of strength to the middle order while picking Shaheen Afridi in place of Hasan Ali has reaped rich rewards as well.
Both these players were outstanding in the match against New Zealand. They also seem to be players driven by confidence and so will come into this match against Afghanistan on a high.
Babar Azam has continued to have a brilliant ICC World Cup 2019 and is finally converting his fifties into big scores. With Mohammad Hafeez in the middle, Pakistan’s main batting concern seems to be its opening batsmen. Imam ul Haq and Fakhar Zaman have not been able to provide the side with consistent starts and that can add pressure on the middle order.
Pakistan has to be wary of the Afghanistan bowling attack since it has some tricky customers. Its own bowling is far superior to Afghanistan’s. Mohammad Amir is bowling at his best while Wahab Riaz is generating some serious pace as well.
Pakistan is a side that can be brilliant one day and terrible the next and this is what it has to guard against.
Pakistan Playing 11
Imam-ul-Haq, F Zaman, Babar Azam, Mohammad Hafeez, Haris Sohail, Sarfraz Ahmed, SI Wasim, Shadab Khan, Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Amir, Shaheen Afridi.
Afghanistan
A good bowling performance against India and then Bangladesh would have given it some hope going into the match against Pakistan. On both occasions, there were some real opportunities for it to try and get a win under its belt but the batting was not up to the mark.
It also seems that the Afghan players are more comfortable playing against their Asian opponents than some of the other teams they have come across. Afghanistan pushed Sri Lanka to the edge, had India on the ropes, and gave Bangladesh a scare as well.
Against Pakistan, the onus of trying to win this match must fall on the bowlers. Mujeeb ur Rahman, Rashid Khan, and Mohammad Nabi came into the tournament with a big reputation. That T20 success has not translated well into the 50 over game apart from some small periods of play where they managed to get a few wickets.
Pakistan’s batting is shaky and Afghanistan must believe that it can cause it to crumble.
Gulbadin Naib has developed a good slower ball and is good in the end overs while Dawlat Zadran is the main threat with the new ball.
The batting for Afghanistan has been an absolute disaster.
Rahmat Shah was one of the few good batsmen in the side but he has not performed as per expectations. None of the other batsmen have been able to get any sort of momentum into the game either. We thought including Samiullah Shinwari was a good move from Afghanistan but overall it's batting still looks very shaky.
They have lost the services of Mohammad Shahzad due to injury but not really found another good opening batsman to take his place. Gulbadin Naib is doing the job right now but we don’t think he is close to being qualified for the job.
Afghanistan’s bowling is not bad but its batting is going to need a miraculous turnaround against a very good Pakistani attack if it has to have a chance.
Afghanistan Playing 11
Gulbadin Naib, R Shah, Hashmatullah Shahidi, Asghar Afghan, Mohammad Nabi, Samiullah Shenwari, N Zadran, Ikram Ali Khil, Rashid Khan, Hamid Hassan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman.
PAK vs AFG Toss Prediction
The team winning the toss is likely to want to bat first. Both teams would want runs on the board and then try to create pressure with their bowling.

Pitch and Conditions
Pakistan vs Afghanistan ICC World Cup 2019 is going to be played at Headingley, Leeds. Summer finally seems to have come to England and we are promised an excellent day for cricket on match day.
Leeds is a ground where the bowlers always have a little bit to work with although the pitch settles down and becomes good for batting later on. Both sides have some good spinners but there is not going to be too much help for them. Pakistan’s fast bowlers may find a lot more help than the slower bowlers.
PAK vs AFG Dream11 Prediction
Dream11 team for Pakistan vs Afghanistan ICC World Cup 2019 is going to have more Pakistanis than Afghans. The relative strengths of the two teams dictate that Afghan spinners and Pakistani pacers should be looked at seriously. Dream11 predictions for Pakistan vs Afghanistan ICC World Cup 2019 can also include some top-order Pakistani batsmen since the Afghanistan fast-bowling attack is quite weak. We will update our Dream11 team on Twitter after the toss. Please follow @cricketbettings for the latest updates.
Wicketkeeper: Sarfraz Ahmed is the only real option and almost everyone will have him in their team. We also recommed doing the same thing.
Batsmen: We have picked four batsmen for our Dream11 team in this match. Babar Azam is in superb form and an easy pick. The remarkable consistency and hunger for runs will always make him a threat. We have also selected the in-form Haris Sohail. His ability to smash the big hits and score runs quickly is very useful in Dream11. For the remaining two batsmen we have taken a bit of a chance. Imam ul Haq is under pressure to score runs and he may not get a better chance than to do so against Afghanistan. Rahmat Shah is the best batsman in terms of technique in the Afghanistan side but he has not scored any runs of consequence in this world cup. We are hoping both these players score runs and help differentiate our Dream11 team from our competitors.
All-rounders: Mohammad Nabi is a very good all-rounder. He is going to bowl most of his overs and is always dangerous with the bat. Another Afghan, Gulbadin Naib is also a part of our team. As the captain, he opens the batting and bowls in the end overs when there is a good chance of picking up wickets. Our third pick from this category is Mohammad Hafeez. Under a bit of pressure to score runs, Mohammad Hafeez bats at four and is also bowling regularly nowadays. We have a feeling he could make a big impact in this match for Pakistan.
Bowlers: Mohammad Amir is bowling at his best and is in the race to be the highest wicket-taker of the tournament. He is getting swing with the new ball and could easily destroy the Afghanistan batting lineup. Shadab Khan has good variations and a good record against Afghanistan. Our last pick from this category is Mujeeb Ur Rahman. He has been in the wickets recently and will pose a serious threat to the Pakistani batsmen. We have not picked Rashid Khan because his returns in this world cup do not justify the steep price for which he is available.
Captain and Vice-Captain: We have picked Babar Azam as captain and Mohammad Hafeez as vice-captain in this match.
