PAK vs NZ Match Prediction - Jan 13, 2023

The ODI series is locked at 1-1 with just the decider in store. The difference between Pakistan and New Zealand has not been much so far. A brilliant spell of bowling by Naseem Shah in the first match and an outstanding century by Devon Conway in the second match were the deciding factors for their respective teams.

We saw an unnaturally slow and sluggish surface in the second match and that may not change dramatically in just a couple of days.

Which side will end up the winner?

Match prediction and cricket betting tips for Pakistan vs New Zealand 3rd ODI 2023. The match will be played at the National Stadium, Karachi on the 13th of January 2023.

PAK vs NZ Team Previews

Pakistan

Pakistan's batters struggled in a stiff chase as the pitch continued to slow down. Dew did not have the kind of effect that may have been hoped and so the advantage of chasing in Karachi was nullified. Babar Azam was the only batter that put up a fight. He has ten fifties in his previous eleven ODI's now, an outstanding record that shows just how consistent he is in this format.

The lack of a power hitter in the middle order is hurting the Pakistani team. It was also clear that they struggled to rotate the strike against the spinners. That is not something you expect from a subcontinent team with players that have grown up facing a lot of spin.

Pakistan's bowling effort was pretty good, especially in the second half of the first inning. Mohammad Nawaz made excellent use of the conditions while Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, and Mohammad Wasim Jr. made crucial inroads as well.

We think all Pakistan needs to do is to adjust its approach against spin so that it can rotate the strike better and it will be ina  good place to win the series.

Pakistan Playing 11

Fakhar Zaman, Shan Masood, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Haris Sohail, Agha Salman, Mohammad Nawaz, Usama Mir, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Mohammad Hasnain, Haris Rauf.

New Zealand

New Zealand owes its victory to a brilliant performance from Devon Conway. He was able to employ the sweep against the spinners to push them off their lengths and was aggressive against the pacers as well. Both he and Williamson were comfortably the best batters of the match.

The problem has been the other players. As the pitch turned slower and more spin-friendly, none of the other batters (except Santner) were able to adjust and build on the good work done by the top order. With the conditions expected to be much the same for the third ODI, it is difficult to have faith in the New Zealand batting lineup.

After all, Conway and Williamson are not going to carry the team on their shoulders in every match.

New Zealand's bowling in the previous match was exceptional. Their spinners (Santner, Sodhi, and Bracewell) bowled very tight lines and never allowed the Pakistani batters to get away. This is exactly what New Zealand will try to do again.

If Ferguson and Southee can pick up some quick wickets, New Zealand's bowling will fancy itself against the Pakistani lineup.

New Zealand Playing 11

Devon Conway, Finn Allen, Kane Williamson, Daryl Mitchell, Tom Latham, Glenn Phillips, Michael Bracewell, Mitchell Santner, Tim Southee, Ish Sodhi, Lockie Ferguson.

PAK vs NZ Toss Prediction

The team that wins the toss is likely to want to bat first. We saw the pitch slow up quite considerably in the second inning and that made the chase quite difficult.

Read our guide on toss predictions to learn how we analyze and come up with our tips.

Pitch and Conditions

There is no rain forecast in Karachi and we should not have any weather-related interruptions. As far as the pitch goes, another sluggish surface with help in it for the spinners is likely. There is just not enough time in between matches for the groundsman to be able to do something dramatic.

That means another match in which hitting sixes will be difficult and the overall scores will be lower. We think 260-280 is going to be quite competitive in this match as well.

PAK vs NZ Betting Tips

Pakistan seemed to have been caught by surprise in the previous match. On most occasions, you would expect Pakistan to be the more comfortable team is spin is dominating the situation. We expect a better prepared Pakistani team that will be able to use the conditions in its favor to win the series.

Bet on Pakistan to win.
