PAK vs NZ Match Prediction - Sep 17, 2021

New Zealand is going to be touring Pakistan for the first time since 2003 and even though there are a number of players missing, the fact that a New Zealand team is traveling to Pakistan is a big deal. The series was originally scheduled to be a part of the ODI Super League but will now be played as a standalone bilateral series since there is no DRS.

New Zealand is without at least 8 of its first-choice ODI players and Pakistan has also picked some young players in its squad.

Match Prediction and cricket betting tips for Pakistan vs New Zealand 1st ODI 2021. The match is going to be played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi on the 17th of September 2021.

PAK vs NZ Team Previews

Pakistan

Pakistan has already named a 12 for the first ODI and so we know who is going to be lining up for them. Change is almost always a constant in Pakistan cricket and that is also the case this time around. The entire coaching staff has quit just a few weeks before the T20 World Cup and so Abdur Razzaq and Saqlain Mushtaq have been given the task for coaching the team for the time being.

Pakistan's batting is going to be stronger at home than anywhere else but it is still not a very strong lineup. Fakhar Zaman is not very consistent, Imam ul Haq can be a bit unsure at the top as well and so a lot depends on the duo of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan.

We think Saud Shakil as well as Iftikhar Ahmed will find a place in the lineup with Shadab Khan batting at number 7. Hasan Ali, Haris Rauf, Shaheen Afridi, and one out of Usman Qadir or Zaid Mehmood will play. NOt a bad batting lineup but one that could find itself in trouble with a couple of early wickets.

The bowling attack for Pakistan is absolutely fantastic and there is no question about it. Hasan Ali and Shaheen Afridi are the two bowlers that will likely pose the biggest threat in this match.

New Zealand

New Zealand just lost a T20 series to Bangladesh for the first time in its history before this series. That was a series played on some terrible pitches that were very spin-friendly and made batting almost impossible. Rawalpindi is not going to be like that and will give New Zealand a better chance to be able to compete.

New Zealand is missing a lot of its batsmen but it still has some quality in its squad. Tom Latham, Henry Nicholls, and Finn Allen will need to be at their very best to be able to compete with Pakistan. Will Young, Rachin Ravindra, Tom Blundell, and Colin de Grnadhomme all add depth to the team and on good batting surfaces, we would not count out New Zealand too early.

New Zealand's bowling lineup is quite good. Matt Henry, Scott Kuggeleijn, Ajaz Patel, and Cole McConchie should all have a chance of making it into the playing eleven. There is some genuine pace, experience, and a pretty decent spin bowling lineup to call upon.

PAK vs NZ Toss Prediction

The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first and get some runs on the board. With a young and inexperienced batting lineup, chasing a stiff target under pressure can be quite challenging.

Pitch and Conditions

There is no rain predicted for match day and so we should have no problem getting a full match in. The pitch should be pretty good for batting. The previous international series played in Rawalpindi was in 2020 between Pakistan and Zimbabwe. There were three innings on which scores of 275 or more were scored and so we expect 260-280 to be par batting first once more.

PAK vs NZ Dream11 Prediction

Dream11 team and Dream11 tips for Pakistan vs New Zealand 1st ODI 2021. We are going with a batting heavy lineup for its match since the surface should favor it. Babar Azam has an exceptional record in Pakistan and is the easy choice for captain. For the vice-captain, we think you can be a bit more adventurous and pick someone like Matt Henry who is a proven wicket-taker.

PAK vs NZ Betting Tips

We think Pakistan is the favorite to win this match but the odds on it make no sense to bet on them. Instead, you should bet on New Zealand. We are looking at the odds to become shorter as the match goes on and that will give you a chance to hedge your bets and come out a winner no matter what happens. This New Zealand team has the bowling to spring a surprise and its batting is not too bad either.

Bet on New Zealand to win.

We know this seems like a very high Over/Under line but Babar Azam has played six ODI’s in Pakistan. He averages 84.20 with 2 centuries and two fifties in those innings. We think he could continue this fantastic scoring spree and get a big score once more.

Pakistan and New Zealand both have a few players that can clear the boundaries with ease and with the pitch expected to favor the batsmen, we are happy to back the ‘Over’ for this bet. Finn Allen, Colin de Grandhomme, and Tom Latham for New Zealand could cross this tally themselves if they get going.

Scores of around 275 or more have been scored very consistently in Rawalpindi in recent matches. This indicates that a number of batsmen are going to get starts and go past fifty. With so many class batsmen playing, it is not inconceivable to expect at least one of them to get past the three-figure mark and help you win this bet.
