PAK vs RSA Match Prediction - Nov 03, 2022

Pakistan's hopes of making the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2022 are hanging by a thread. It needs a lot of unlikely results to go its way to have a chance and it also must win against South Africa itself. This is easier said than done since South Africa is the only team undefeated in the entire tournament.

The cricket betting sites have South Africa as the favorite but Pakistan is one of those teams that can be absolutely brilliant on its day.

Match prediction and cricket betting tips for Pakistan vs South Africa T20 World Cup 2022. The match will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney on the 3rd of November 2022.

PAK vs RSA Team Previews

Pakistan

Pakistan won its first match of the tournament in its previous outing as it defeated the Netherlands by a comfortable 6 wickets. We thought Pakistan made some important changes to its team and should continue to be flexible in this next match as well.

The addition of Fakhar Zaman to the lineup is a good one but we really do not see how Shan Masood fits in at number four. There is no way that Pakistan should be playing Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shan Masood in its top 4.

We have no doubt that Pakistan will be bombarded with a lot of short stuff. There is no other Test nation in the cricketing world that has struggled more with the short ball than Pakistan in recent times. Not only have the batters struggled to keep their keep wickets but they also do not score quickly enough on short balls.

If the Sydney pitch is a bit slow then it will be a bigger advantage for Pakistan.

Among the bowling, Haris Rauf and Mohammad Wasim Jr. have emerged as the best bowlers for Pakistan so far. Shaheen Afridi is bowling noticeably slower and is clearly not at his best. The Sydney surface could also help Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz but they will both bring the ball back in to the lef-handers and could end up finding it tough to complete their overs.

Babar Azam will have to rely mostly on his four fast bowlers and use the spinners sparingly.

Pakistan Playing 11

Mohammad Rizwan, Babar Azam, Mohammad Haris, Shan Masood, Iftikhar Ahmed, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah.

South Africa

South Africa has one foot in the semi-finals already. It is hard to see how it can actually miss out from the position it is in and so there is going to be no pressure on South Africa. There is no doubt that South Africa has played some brilliant cricket in the T20 World Cup 2022 edition but it also has some clear weaknesses.

The batting order is shorter than most teams because we do not consider having Temba Bavuma and Wayne Parnell in their top 7 as ideal. Chasing a small target, two early wickets could have completely derailed South Africa but Aiden Markram and David Miller managed to get the job done.

Even Tristan Stubbs, playing at number 6, is also quite inexperienced and has yet to truly prove himself at the international level. The positive is that South Africa's four main batters (de Kock, Rossouw, Markram, and Miller) are in terrific form.

That is where they have to hope for enough runs to win this match.

The spicy Australian wickets have served the South Africans very well. Lungi Ngidi, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, and Wayne Parnell are world-class bowlers that bowl at high pace and will exploit the hard lengths. Keshav Maharaj is the only real 'weak link' here and Bavuma will be forced to slip in his overs whenever a wicket falls.

South Africa Playing 11

Quinton de Kock, Temba Bavuma, Rilee Rossouw, Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaasen, Tristan Stubbs, Wayne Parnell, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Lungi Ngidi, Tabraiz Shamsi.

PAK vs RSA Toss Prediction

The team that wins the toss will want to bat first. All four of the matches played in Sydney during the T20 World Cup 2022 have been massive victories for the team that has batted first.

Pitch and Conditions

The weather forecast in Sydney is quite good on match day and it is unlikely that we will get any rain. As far as the pitch goes, it has been quite high-scoring. New Zealand made 200 against Australia, South Africa 205 against Bangladesh, India made 179 against the Netherlands, and New Zealand made 167 against Sri Lanka.

The second inning has been a bit more challenging but the data suggests something around 170 should be seen as par.

PAK vs RSA Betting Tips

We are going to back South Africa to win. They have proven without a doubt that their bowling attack is one of the best in the world, especially in Australian conditions. The top batters of the side are also scoring runs freely. Pakistan, on the other hand, is under a lot of pressure. Shaheen Afridi appears to be below his best and the batting lineup seems to be struggling to come to terms with the additional bounce in Australia.

Bet on South Africa to win.

The only reason why you are getting such good odds for this betting market is because Temba Bavuma takes up a lot of deliveries for South Africa. However, he usually does not stay around for long enough and that allows players like de Kock and Rossow to capitalize. South Africa's bowling attack will also put a lot more pressure on the Pakistan i batters.

There is no other batter in world cricket that seems more out of place in T20 cricket than Temba Bavuma at the moment. He has not made more tha 16.5 in any of the matches so far or on his tour to India and we are happy to bet that he continues to struggle.
