PAK vs RSA Match Prediction - Feb 14, 2021

After struggling for so long, South Africa finally managed to find success in their tour of Pakistan as they won the second T20I of the three-match series. It's all now hanging on the result of the final match of the series and we'll know the result tomorrow.

South Africa have scripted an upset and will be looking to avenge their test defeat by taking the series with a win in this upcoming match. The third match of the series is to be played at the same venue of Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, on Sunday, 14th February 2021.

PAK vs RSA Team Previews

Pakistan

Pakistan narrowly survived in the first match, but they failed to do so in the second match and now find themselves in a spot of bother. Before the series started, they were projected to win the series 3-0, but with South Africa winning the second match comprehensively, Pakistan would do well to even win the series.

The problem that Pakistan have faced in the two matches is pretty clear - their batting isn't firing as it should. It was the brilliance of Mohammad Rizwan that won them the first match, but a fifty from him in the second match didn't prove to be enough for Pakistan to put a good total on the board.

Batting first, Pakistan managed to put a total of just 144 runs on the board and that is where they lost the match. The fact that Babar Azam has failed to score well for two matches in a row has surprised many and would be a point of discussion when he comes out to bat in this upcoming match. A lot depends upon Babar Azam for Pakistan's batting to do well, especially with Pakistan not having enough experience in the middle-order.

With the ball, however, Pakistan have done pretty well in both matches even though they have had to work against the conditions. Dew made it difficult to grip the ball, but the fact that Pakistan defended well in the first match and came close in the second speaks volumes about the kind of bowling they have done. Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Nawaz, and Usman Qadir have been brilliant and will hold the key for Pakistan in the upcoming match as well.

All in all, there are a lot of vulnerabilities that Pakistan have shown, but the home advantage that they have has certainly hidden many of those vulnerabilities. Bowlers have done well thus far and Babar Azam is due to score. If Babar Azam can play like he is known for, Pakistan will certainly be in business on Sunday.

Pakistan Playing 11

Mohammad Rizwan, Babar Azam, Haider Ali, Hussain Talat, Asif Ali, Hasan Ali, Faheem Ashraf, Mohammad Nawaz, Usman Qadir, Shaheen Afridi, Zahid Mahmood.

South Africa

It's commendable that even though the Proteas are not playing with their full-strength squad, they have done pretty well in the series. They did well in the first match before making a mess at the end and then their bowlers won them the match when they took the field for the second time in the series. With a win up their sleeves, the Proteas will be brimming with confidence and might not be as easy to deal with as they had been in the tour up until the first T20I.

It was the tremendous spell of fast bowling by Dwaine Pretorious that pulled Proteas back into the match. He was ably assisted by Tabraiz Shamsi and JJ Smuts as they both kept the pressure up on a fragile batting lineup of Pakistan. Pretorious picked up five wickets and was easily the best bowler of the day for South Africa.

Interestingly, South Africa have not yet batted first in this series, and given the way they have struggled against spinners after the onset of dew, it won't be easy for them to bat first if Pakistan bats second. A lot would depend on how South Africa's top order does against the fast-bowler. Having said that, they'll be delighted to see David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen do well in the limited opportunity that they got in the second match.

All in all, South Africa have done pretty well on the whole but would need to improve massively with the bat. They have the fire-power on paper and if they can match that firepower with performance, the Proteas may well end up surprising everyone.

PAK vs RSA Betting Tips

With the series now leveled 1-1, this match is all to play for. South Africa did exceedingly well to topple Pakistan in alien conditions and will be looking to repeat the feat in the upcoming contest. Just like South Africa, Pakistan too have a few chinks in their armor and would need to fix those quickly. On paper, both sides have a lot of inexperience and there's not a lot to separate the two. However, Pakistan have the home advantage and a set of spinners that has caused some troubles for the visitors. For that reason, we would place our money on a Pakistan's win in this series decider.
