Contrary to everyone's expectations, this World Cup is turning out to be relatively low scoring. The average first innings total thus far is hovering around 240s which is about a hundred runs less than what was expected considering the small grounds and batting friendly conditions. Pakistan and Sri Lanka are the two teams which have been bundled out in early hundreds which is one of the many reasons contributing to low average totals. They both are set to meet each other on 7th June at The Brightside Ground, Bristol. After posting dismal performances in their respective opening games, both the sides posted dismal performances but bounced back with a terrific show in their second ones. With both sides having the momentum, it's expected to be a cracker of a contest on Friday.
The unpredictability of Pakistan was once again on display in their last match where they defeated the tournament favorites, England, in a high-scoring fixture. Considering the way their batting collapsed against West Indies the other day, they were the least expected side to score a near 350-run total.
Batting first on a surface where there was some assistance on offer for the quick bowlers, Pakistan got off to a quick start with Fakhar Zaman taking the responsibility to score quickly. His wicket, however, slowed down things for Pakistan in the middle overs, but a terrific onslaught by Mohammad Hafeez took them to 348 which proved to be too much to handle for England.
Their batting has always been unpredictable yet capable, but probably the major positive they drew from their last match's result was their bowling's performance. Mohammad Amir has found back his rhythm with the start of this World Cup and he will be a key to Pakistan's fortunes going forward. Apart from him, it was refreshing to see Wahab Riaz and Hasan Ali execute their plans and with their bowling firing, Pakistan all of a sudden seems to be a decent side.

Sri Lanka were perceived to be the weakest of all sides coming into this tournament and their win over the Afghans has certainly opened up the table, at least for them. They have a history of performing exceedingly well in the ICC events and apparently, they've got the kick-start they needed with their win over Afghanistan.
Similar to Pakistan, they were coming into this game on the back of a dismal performance where they were bundled out for a subpar total. Barring their skipper, Dimuth Karunaratne, none of their batsmen were able to stick around in the first game. The trend followed in the second match as well where they slid from 144 for 1 and ended up scoring another low total.
However, their bowling came to the rescue against Afghanistan where they successfully defended 187 after the length of the match was cut down to 41 overs. All their bowlers contributed well, picking up wickets at regular intervals, with Nuwan Pradeep being the pick of their bowlers.

Check out our Dream11 lineup for Pakistan vs Sri Lanka World Cup fixture
We are already a week into the World Cup and things are still very much open as far as the points table is concerned. Both Sri Lanka and Pakistan have a poor net run-rate with one win to their name and will be looking to rise up the ladder in the coming matches. Considering the way things have gone for the two sides, they both look on par with each other. However, Pakistan have a better-settled unit with more experience available at their disposal and are coming on the back of a win over a more formidable team. Due to that as well as the aforementioned reasons, we think the men in green are better placed to emerge on top in the upcoming fixture.
