Contrary to everyone's expectations, the series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka has been far from a humdrum affair. While the ODI series went mainly in favor of the hosts, Pakistan have struggled to gain ground in the shortest format of the game. In the two encounters gone in the series so far, Pakistan have failed to make an impression in any of those. With series already lost, the hosts will be playing for pride in the third and the final match of the series. The second-string Sri Lankan side, on the other hand, has punched well and truly above its weight and will be looking to end their tour on a high.
Pakistan Cricket team is the epitome of unpredictability, and this notion was proved yet again in their ongoing series, wherein they lost to a second-string Sri Lankan side. Pakistan have been winning consistently across the globe in the shortest version of the game, and their loss in this series came as a surprise to many.
The relevance of losing to second-string Sri Lankan unit can be seen from the fact that even the first Sri Lankan side is struggling to perform in international cricket, having lost all of their four most-recent T20I series and Pakistan are at the top, as far as the rankings are concerned.
In both the losses seen in the tournament thus far, Pakistan have seen a similar sort of script unfold. Their bowlers have struggled to get rid of Sri Lankan batsmen early in the innings that has cost Pakistan at the death. However, it's not their bowling that has hurt Pakistan. Their top-order has failed shockingly in both the matches resulting in two massive losses. Chasing totals has always been Pakistan's Achilles heels, and it won't be surprising if they decide to opt to bat here if their skipper calls it right at the coin toss.
Babar Azam, F Zaman, Haris Sohail, Sarfraz Ahmed, Asif Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed, SI Wasim, Wahab Riaz, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Amir, Usman Khan.
The joy of winning overseas cannot be overstated, regardless of the format. Sri Lankan cricket team are indeed in a similar situation right now. Not only they have managed to beat Pakistan, but they've also done so when they were least expected to.
They have done incredibly well in both the departments of the game - getting a big total on the board batting first and then their bowlers doing an excellent job to wrap things up beautifully. Their fast bowlers have been instrumental in handing early blows to the Pakistanis, and that has been the telling differentiating factor.
A whitewash here in favor of Sri Lanka could be a gamechanger as far as Sri Lankan cricket is concerned. Sri Lanka have been going under plenty of changes in recent times, and this game could work wonders, especially a year before ICC World T20. They have been in good form and have proved themselves in the first two matches of the series, and it won't be surprising if they end up winning the last game of the series as well.

It's been a roller-coaster ride for both sides in this highly anticipated series. While Pakistan looked at least a few levels above the visitors in the ODI leg of the series, the roles have been reversed in the shortest version of the game. Considering the form of the two sides, picking Pakistan as the winners can be a tough choice. However, with a robust on-paper unit and favorable rewards on betting makes Pakistan firm favorites as the team to bet on in the last match of the series.
