The return of test cricket to Pakistan after a decade was marred by rain and it was very unfortunate that the cricket starved public of Pakistan could not get to enjoy more of the cricket. There were some positives for both the teams, though. Sri Lanka batted well and going to a decent total while Pakistan managed to show flashes of brilliance in its bowling as well. The cheery on the cake was Abid Ali’s century on debut, of course.
Now, the action moves to Karachi for the second test. The National Stadium in Karachi is expected to offer a result-oriented surface and the weather forecast is also excellent. The series is alive and there are crucial World Test Championship points on offer as well.
Pakistan vs Sri Lanka 2nd test match 2019 is going to be played at the National Stadium, Karachi starting on the 19th December 2019.
Pakistan would be desperate to win this match in front of its home crowd and provide the perfect end to this historic series. The return of test cricket to Pakistan is a wonderful thing for cricket around the world.
To make this happen, though, Pakistan needs to have a serious look at its bowling attack. They looked toothless in the first test and struggled to make inroads into the Sri Lankan batting. Even when they were able to pick a few wickets, stubborn partnerships from the middle and lower order prevented them from making too much headway.
For a team that prided itself on the strength of its bowling, this is a rude awakening.
Mohammad Abbas has lost a lot of his pace and is going to struggle to have the same kind of impact as he did earlier in his career. Naseem Shah is still raw and we think he may have been hurried into test cricket while not picking Yasir Shah was just baffling.
We think one of the pacers can be dropped in favor of Yasir Shah for this match.
Usman Shinwari was the most impressive bowler in our eyes. He kept on running in hard and never lost intensity. A bit more luck and he could have had at least a couple of more wickets.
Shan Masood, Abid Ali, Azhar Ali, Babar Azam, Haris Sohail, Asad Shafiq, Mohammad Rizwan, Yasir Shah, Mohammad Abbas, Naseem Shah, Shaheen Afridi.
The batting performance in the first test match would have given some confidence to Sri Lanka. Five of their batsmen got starts and two of them went on to convert them into big scores. They were also not bowled out and eventually declared.
Sri Lanka is trying out another opening combination in this test series and that started well. Oshada Fernando was very watchful in the beginning but managed to get 40 before getting out. As an opener, getting to 40 on the subcontinent should really count for something much bigger and so he will be disappointed.
The same is the case with Dimuth Karunaratne who continued his good show in test cricket.
Kusal Mendis failed again and the massively talented batsman is going to be under scrutiny once more. People expect so much from him that any lapse is seen as a major mistake.
Angelo Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal are back in the side to provide a wealth of experience. Neither of them is in great form, though, and this is why they are also going to be feeling the pressure.
The performance of Dhanajaya de Silva, Niroshan Dickwella, and even Dilruwan Perera were very encouraging and emphasis the long batting unit of the Sri Lankans.
The bowling is a big problem for Sri Lanka as well. Kasun Rajitha has been ruled out of the test match and so their scarce resources are going to be even more stretched. Vishwa Fernando, Lahiru Kumara, and Dilruwan Perera will have to bowl out of their skins to be able to win this match for their country.
Dimuth Karunaratne, Oshada Fernando, Kusal Mendis, Angelo Mathews, Dinesh Chandimal, Dhananjaya de Silva, Niroshan Dickwella, Dilruwan Perera, Lasith Embuldeniya, MVT Fernando, Lahiru Kumara.

The conditions in Karachi are expected to be perfect for cricket. No rain has been forecast for any of the days of the test match. The pitch will start out flat but should start to break up as the days progress. Karachi is a very good ground for the spinners from the third day onward and so both teams are expected to add some spinners to their side.
Batting first is going to be a huge advantage on this ground.
Dream11 Tips and Dream11 team for Pakistan vs Sri Lanka second test 2019
We think that Pakistan should be able to win this match although batting fourth might be a challenge for them. We advise players to hedge their bets in case Sri Lanka bats first because it has a formidable batting lineup under these conditions.
