About the Match
The recently concluded ODI series brought a smile on not only Bangladesh's cricket fans, but from fans across the globe. Along with that, it left many questions for a remarkably out of form Pakistani side. Bangladesh now has another challenge in front of them, that is, to take on one of the better teams when it comes to T20 cricket. While Bangladesh won the ODI series quite clinically, they would have to start afresh as the men from Pakistan can present variety of challenges with the change in format. The first and only T20I will be played on 24th April at 1230 GMT at Dhaka. Pakistan will be looking to turn the tour and more to test matches with a win while Bangladesh would be looking to give a knockout punch and knock their rivals out as far as limited overs competition is concerned.
As witnessed in ODI series, apparently Pakistan lacked the flare and flamboyance they've always played cricket with. However, there is a massive change in the team structure and team that played ODIs and the team which will be playing this T20. Shahid Afridi will be leading the side and Sohail Tanvir and Ahmed Shahzad will make comeback into the team. Although the majority of team remains same as that of T20, the new players would be handy to motivate the team to perform well in the shortest format of the game. Sohail Tanvir has been a brilliant T20 player and can make the impact Pakistan wants. Pakistan would want Shahid Afridi aka Boom Boom to fire with both bat and ball. With plenty of talented players in the side, it is no surprise that Pakistan has been one of the best T20 sides in the world. If the players perform to their reputation, this team is going to be pretty hot to handle.
Winning three matches in a row would have been motivating enough for the tigers to do well in the upcoming contents. They've had plenty of support from the fans largely because of the performance they've given in the ODI series. Owing to their superb victories, the expectations from the team have risen exponentially. Bangladesh have not played even one T20 match for the past one year. They would be rusty in this format, but their excellent ODI form might provide them with momentum required for the shortest format. The opening combination has been instrumental in their success as Tamin Iqbal smashed two hundreds and one century coming off the bat of his partner Soumya Sarkar. With middle order and bowlers in such fine form, it wouldn't be surprising if they emerge on top in the 3-hour game as well.
Bangladeshi batsmen feasted on the ordinary bowling of Pakistan on excellent batting wickets. Pakistan will be hoping for change in fortunes with the change in format. Bangladesh, on the other hand, thrived in the ODI series and will be looking to extend their winning streak. Pakistani team has improved leaps and bound with the inclusion of the veterans of the game and I think they will win the only T20 and have their fans something to cheer about.
